I PM'd it to you rappard. Please post the links for others.
Next I will post an Ash Bowie solo show from Boston in 2001. It's not like Libraness or polvo though, more like just fucking around for about 40 minutes. |

To barrett (and others using MediaFire): I don't want to come across as an ungrateful idiot, but it's a lot easier if you
- Create a (web) folder in MediaFire - Upload all the tracks into that folder - Copy/paste the *folder* URL here That way people only have to load one tab in their browser, instead of copying/pasting 10 to 16 links. Less room for error and less time-consuming, see? |
Just uploaded to Utkonos (http://sonicyouth.utkonos.org/upload.html) at barrett's request:
directory /povlo: -> polvo1992-09-16.flac16 -> polvo1992-10-06.flacf -> polvo1994-02-25.flacf (MediaFire has a 200 MB limit, hence the alternative download location. Work that FTP client b***h!) |
Thank you rappard, I got it. I didn't even know what an FTP was. I'm totally digging this.
|
rappard, i have the impression that it's more comfortable for you to host files on an FTP server, and i suppose that's because you must know very well how to work with it.
I upload and download from utkonos with Total Commander 7.50a, always at a maximum rate of 32 kbp/s, which means it's actually easier for me to upload files to Megaupload or something. Things work faster for me there. I'm not complaining, and all the effort you put on sharing things here, there, and everywhere, is vastly appreciated by me. My point is, that i would like to use Total Commander at its full potential, but so far i haven't found any useful information regarding how to speed things up if that is indeed possible. Do you know of any link that would lead to some tutorial that could be of some help for someone with a brain as dull as mine? Suggestions from everybody else are very welcome as well, by the way. Thanks in advance. |
Hipster, I just learned how to FTP today. I DL'd: FileZilla and I got three shows in like 5-10 minutes.
|
I am uploading Ash Bowie Live @ The Lizard Lounge in Massachusetts: March 2001. Their are two 20 minute tracks. It starts slow But picks up, more and nicer done vocals than I remember. These songs are on nothing else.
Also included will be an unreleased Libraness home recording. |
Getting Filezilla now.
Thanks, man. |
You're certainly welcome. I am going to try to upload a bit more polvo, and a Sebadoh show from 93 with Eric Gaffney(excellent quality).

All of that sounds reasonable, and might very well be true as far as i can tell. I'm uploading the last .VOB file of the Sonic Youth & The Black Keys at Austin City Limits DVD to Utkonos right now. Estimated time to finish the upload process is 5 hours and a half, total size of the .VOB file is 634 MB, the maximum uploading speed right now is 30 kbp/s. I've downloaded filezilla, and i'm gonna read about it. I'll try it at some point in the near future. If things are better, i'll use FTP as a means to share files more often. If the results are the same, then i guess there wouldn't be nothing more to do about it. I don't think i'd want a knife fight with my ISP. Thanks very much for replying, though. |
Rappard, I PM'd the Ashley B. show with bonuses.

I shall look into this further. Now that i think about it, maybe it's not a bad idea to confront my ISP, or at least ask them for assistance. If they are screwing me over, and i don't do anything, then i don't suppose they will stop. |

My Internet speed limits are roughly 700kB/s download, 70kB/s upload. I haven't uploaded squat to Utkonos yet, but I guess the speed will be about the same as yours, HBJ - 30kB/s or so, which by the way is the same I get with YouSendIt Express (SendSpace Wizard can be faster, but the connection is likely to circle the drain and die down real fuckin' quick when it comes to "big" files). The thing is, downloading from Utkonos is a completely different deal as long as the files are HTTP accessible - use a program like ReGet Deluxe and you'll have the goodies on your computer in record time.

I'm currently uploading a 380 MB file to Megaupload, at a rate of 167 kbp/s. It will probably take 40 minutes to be finished, whereas 54% of a 680 MB file has taken more than three hours to be uploaded to utkonos. I don't get how speed can vary so much from one application to another. All is good when dealing with any hosting sites (except Badongo), everything works really swell with my bittorrent client; in fact, i just switched to µTorrent, after using the mainline for many years, and that didn't affect me at all. My maximum upload speed ever when attached to a big swarm at dimeadozen has been 216.48 kbp/s. 30 kbp/s seems too pale in comparison. I think i'm gonna call my ISP to request they check my connection. I would'n really like to be getting a lousy service. I pay crazy bucks every month, after all. You all are so nice, and i take all your responses in consideration. Thanks very much for the help, i'm gonna google Reget Deluxe now, and i'll get informed about how it works. |
