my actual setup isn't much complicated, but sounds mighty good imo (it's not cheap, but not superpricey either)..

korg pitchblack->catalinbread SFT->MXR Carbon copy->catalinbread valcoder

the sft sounds supergood with guitar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtrmxACnMhA
I want to try a malekko 616 (actually I hoped for a tap-tempo from them) instead of the MXR, but there's no rush. Nor money ha ha.

I'm not much of a guitar player, but I'm tryin' ha ha..

holy fuck shit:

edit: never tried mine on bass, is it really that good?
how about synth bass? like on a minimoog? if anybody got some listening examples, would be helpful.
if not I will have to try it by myself

It's not out until July 9th, but I want one, and I intend to.

if a switch on the fuzz factory randomly (when stomped) switches the efx on/off, does that mean the switch is broken or does it mean something more complex, like a broken connection between the electronic parts?

thinking bout selling one, but wanna get it fixed beforehand

based on experience it probably means that the switch is going bad, as its not keeping connection to either keeping the effect on/off... i also have a fuzz factory but i haven't really examined the "guts", i believe that the switch is not hardwired to the board which will make putting a replacement switch easier...

which fuzz factory do you have? the vexter series units have an LED which would require a 3pdt type switch to make it true-bypass w/ an LED, the hand painted originals have a dpdt switch to the best of my knowledge as these units do not have an LED. Small bear electronics is a good place to get replacement parts for effects (also there is Mouser, forget Ratshack they don't have these type of switches anyways). you need to de-solder the old switch and solder in the new switch making sure all the connections go to the same place (which are the board inputs/outputs, jack inputs/outputs, ground and LED if necessary).

shabbray2.0 07.02.2010 10:38 AM

Ive got the older one, handpainted. no LED
thank you for the information!
will have to search for a retailer in germany to get the switch. would be to expanive to import it, I think.
as long as it is just to solder some contacts, I am fine and can do it by myself!
thanks again

that pedal is brilliant! It sounds like a maxed out fuzz but those little lo-fi digital spikes it does are really cool..... what else do you make?!?

I ordered the new Electro Harmonix "Freeze" Sound Retainer. Looks pretty neatoooooooooooooooooooooooo.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 07.20.2010 12:13 AM

Well that's the 2nd pedal I've made, though I've done a bunch of mods before that, and I almost fully designed a digital controller pedal, and then I took a break from that for awhile because it was frustrating.

Currently I've got a more advanced prototyped (meaning I have a breadboard mounted to a block of wood with some metal panels with knobs and jacks on it) version of that fuzz, I'm working on a typical noisy fuzz face type thing, and I've also prototyped a 2 channel mixer and a compressor for a couple of friends.

The 1st pedal I made was a simple ABY.

The freezer is cool, but in some ways I'd just like to get a 2nd HOG. :D

Hi guys, suggestions for nice pedals similar to Catalinbread's Bacalooper? size kinda matters...

finding nobody 09.08.2010 12:37 PM

I lost the power source to my poly-chorus over a year ago.. But, I recently found out they're only $9.99 on musicians friend. I can't what to have that godamn pedal back!!

bumpty bump

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 09.17.2010 02:13 PM

I could make you one nicfit

nicfit 09.17.2010 02:15 PM

I would LOVE this!
I guess the concept/schematics must be quite simple even with true bypass and decent components..
I'm seriously intrigued :D, lemme know via pm if/how we can make this happen..

p.s. I bumped this thread coz I saw you around syg he he, but I didn't expect such reply..
p.p.s. I want to try some of the ehx nano series thingies...

FreshChops 09.18.2010 01:58 AM

I haven't gotten many new effects recently. I think the most recent, a Keeley modded Boss DS-1. It's koo! I didn't comment since, but I did get the EHX Freeze. It's very cool. I'll record and post some samples with it, but I've been doing acoustic treatment in my room and all my gear is cluttered to the middle of my room.

I'm kinda moving on to signal processing. Just added a couple nice mic pre.'s. An Avalon 737sp and in contrast, but nice compliment got a Universal Audio LA-610 MKII classic tube channel.

Have you considered making your own line of pedals? I know the boutique pedal market is flooded, but something like the circuit bent / fuzz one you made has it's place. Have you made others? Can it be duplicated or was the results of random experimenting? Could you make one by request? I could put one to good use!

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 09.18.2010 02:12 PM

It can be duplicated. . . It's just a matter of time and money.

I'll be getting circuit boards printed soon so I don't have to use perfboards for it anymore. I've added more controls to it to do more stuff too.

Plus I've got some other stuff to work on soon too.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 10.25.2010 10:31 AM

Here's the deluxe version I'm working on. . . the art's come out spectacularly. I'm really getting a better handle on this stuff now. I learn lessons in each build I do and each one gets a little bit nicer than the last.
