If anybody is having trouble downloading this, all you need to do I think is create a free rapidshare account. I hate the new rapidshare

ilduclo 01.08.2014 10:56 AM

doesn't work for those who HAD rapidshare free accounts, but let them expire somehow. Only payment of a bunch of euros is now possible. sucky!!

Notes:
This has definitely turned out to be one of my better recordings of 2013, and the sounds that came from the stage are among the most amazing I've ever heard, especially the middle section of Lost River Blues. Oddly enough, it seems like there was one guy absent tonight. No idea why, but on other videos from this European tour there's someone else on stage, on electric guitar (e.g. there are some clips on Youtube from their show in Istanbul, or this session from Belgian radio station Studio Brussel: http://www.stubru.be/programmas/duyster/Esmerine). I only realized this a couple of weeks later though while searching for footage on Youtube of this night, I actually did not miss him at all. Speaking of the line-up, I took a wild guess on some of the names, as well as the instruments they played. Please correct me if I made any mistakes.
Thanks a lot to Grigio for adding some of his magical mastering tricks to this recording.

JULIA KENT

Ambient Festival
St. Aposteln, Koeln, Germany
January - 23 - 2014

---
from DIMENEW collection # 188
---

Rec. Info:
DPA 4061 -> Roland D-26 (at WAV 16/44) -> SD -> HD -> WeTransfer -> my HD -> Audacity (volume boost) -> WAV 16/44 -> TLH8 -> FLAC -> DIME -> YOUR EARS AND MIND...
Excellent recording, nothing to complain. These mics are the just exactly right choice for music like this. My personal desire for them grows with every of DIMENEW's fantastic
recordings. All thanks straight to him, the master taper!

---
Here's the first of three concerts from the Ambient Festival at Sankt Aposteln, a medivian style roman catholic church at the Neumarkt in Koeln. A gorgeous setting for music like this!
Or just to say...the ancient history meets the ambient now. If you visit their website you can read a lot of very interesting information about this church, first mentioned in "reports"
as way back as the year 1021...So in about just seven years from now, they are celebrating the 1000 year of its existance. Well, unfortunately it doesn't look like that anymore, as wars
and especially the devasting bombing of Koeln in 1944/45 almost destroyed it completely. The damaged was so big, that it took from 1949 until 1975 to complete the reconstruction.
But if you watch some pics, you know you're in a very spiritual setting.
Julia Kent is a canadian born cello player (now residing in NYC), who besides being a ground member of well acclaimed cellogrounp RASPUTINA, has - besides her own work - added a lot of
her instrument abilities to more contemporary artists spanning from Norah Jones over Rufus Wainwright up to some weirder acts like Current 93...
But this is her, playing to a "packed crowd" (ups, thanks to the audience, very concentrated and "in-for-the-music"). Guess you like it. SB.

Here's the second of the three shows taped at this very special location, and old roman catholic church in the center of Koeln. And again, dear DIMENEW proved his majestic taping
abilities to produce such a wonderful recording! This features a performance by senior composer/pianist Lubomyr Melnyk from Ukrainia, who invented a (then) new style of playing,
called "continious music", which needs a special new technique for playing a piano (or two). For the encore he is joined by Julia Kent, cello ace from Canada on a composition that
was written exculsively for this Ambient Festival concert. Enjoy! SB.
