It's a short film and believe it or not, that's Mick Jagger doing the soundtrack.

Yeah, it's a masterpiece, but why "Believe it or not"? Mick Jagger was very involved in experimental films and so on back in the day. Check out his performance/music in the fucked-up experimental classic PERFORMANCE. One of my favorite movies ever.

There's a version with an alternate soundtrack.

The most widely seen version with Jagger's sound was the first time he ever played a moog, I hear. He played it, recorded it, and that was it. Very unnerving.

...MANHATTAN is amazing. That's funny, I actually re-watched Annie Hall the other day. 10/10

expendables - 2/10

Boring as hell. Some of the dialogue was just weird. Just a waste of time. Even for ERIC ROBERTS films, this was amongst the worst. Go watch POWER 98 or something! Haha. I mean, seriously. This film gets 2 points for that camera spin during the 2nd shootout. Dull, boring.. CGI blood.. Jet Li wasted.. AWFUL direction... the last 45 minutes are so dark you can't see shit.. constant cuts... cameras moving everywhere.. how can a film so short feel so long, so bloated? Such a waste of time.

I loved it! Heard couple of the songs on El-P's Collecting the Kid, it always interested but I never decided hunt it down and watch it. Anyways I finally did and I should've watched it A LOT sooner. El-P's music palette is perfect couple for this movie. Beautiful shot, the storyline was solid and ending was very nice. I gotta buy this.

9/10

Good movie. Dark, depressing, but strange too in it's narrative. The plot is fairly thin and kind of muddled in it's execution. The movie kind of changes what it's about several times with no real flow which is semi distracting. And the animation is smooth but also kind of bland, the textures just seem really flat at points. But it's interesting, violent, cold, a little too heavy handed with the wolf symbolism, but that's alright. It was together enough just enough to be good.

half-watched half of The Time Traveler's Wife.

y'know the concept's kind of good. Rachel McAdams is great anyway. And their wedding band played Joy Division.

i started watching neil gaiman's "stardust"

i thought it was going to be shit but it turned out entertaining

not blow-your-fucking-mind entertaining but better than the beastmaster-quality shit i was expecting.

claire danes is ridiculous with a fake english accent but she's still lovely.

yes, yes, i haven't watched any great movies lately.

noisereductions 09.01.2010 10:30 AM

i know at times she can look like a freak horse with plastic surgery but i think at the time that movie was made she was still untouched by knife or anorexia. maybe.

Elevator Movie...was really neat, actually. I love the bad editing and framing, made it feel like a real intimate experience with the characters, without that horrid shaky camera "blair witch" bullshit. Even though it was pretty out there and stumbled along, by the end I felt pretty alienated from the guy (i felt for him so much yet truly believed that he was nuts.) I think thats a good thing.

Night Train to Terror - HA! talking about bad editing! I had no fucking clue what was going on for the first 20 minutes. Then I was hooked. Loved it.

Dans Ma Peau - As movies with no conclusions would have me, for the first little while after it ended I felt sort of empty. But the more I thought about it, the more I started to appreciate how little was said (people will either hate or love this sort of direction.) It entered subject matter that is very little understood, partly maybe because the experience is as varied as there are people experiencing it, without trying to form an "AH HA! THIS IS IT, I HAVE DECIDED SO." The writer/actor was pretty damned amazing. Also, it didnt just have to do with self-mutilation, but can represent any self-destructive or addictive behavior, but just pushes it right over the edge. So awesome that a film was made analyzing the relationship a person can have with their own body this way. I think there are people out there who would like to try to draw connections between a woman and society, but really, the ultra-painfully long, drawn out and real-time moments where we watch this woman engage in her pleasure says that its all personal.
