atsonicpark 08.27.2008 08:06 AM

Bend Sinister is amazing. Probably their last great album for a long time, at least until Real New Fall.

Reformation is great!!!!!! 50 year old man!!!!!!!!

FALL HEADS ROLL. Ugh. The opening track alone is probably the worst Fall song. I dunno, I've listened to it 10 times and can't really say anything good about it. No good riffs, songs go on too long, a really mundane and drab sound.. nothing original (except the opening track which is really bizarre), no good lyrics. Sounds like a bad garage band parodying the Fall.

PAULYBEE2656 08.27.2008 08:09 AM

ha! well mark did openly apologize for the first track by saying it was a mistake...but what about now, blindness....two of the greatest fall tracks ever.....

50 year old man is excellent alright but thats the imperial wax solvent album, which is great!

bend i never got into.... ive just bought a copy of levitate which ive never heard in full... thats not wonderful. its ok, getting very techno in places.....cheap techno.....

speaking of which adam...pm in a sec!

atsonicpark 08.27.2008 08:12 AM

Oh duh, I had a brain fart.

Reformation has some good moments. I think a lot of the songs just go on for way too long. Like, I love the song "Reformation" but they should use the 4 minute video edit of the song, not the 7 minute one. Jesus. The riff of the entire song is 3-0-3-0-3-0-3-0-3-0-3-0-3-0-3-0-3-0 for 7 minutes!

And yeah I'm not a big fan of their more dancey stuff...

atsonicpark 08.27.2008 08:13 AM

Wow pauly thanks for the link, I'm gonna grab all those.

What's dj scotch egg or whatever? Haha..

PAULYBEE2656 08.27.2008 08:13 AM

fall sound is a good track too tho.....

fugazifan 08.27.2008 10:44 AM

i love the fall. a lot
but i did not like imperial wax solvent at all. i thought 50 year old man was terrible
everythng else that ive heard is amazing. my favorite is probably this nations...

NWRA 08.27.2008 10:55 AM

Adam, Pauly, what do you think of The Unutterable?

I think it's as good as Real New Fall LP myself. Cyber Insekt, Dr Bucks Letter and Ketamine Sun are modern Fall classics.

_slavo_ 08.27.2008 10:56 AM

My top 5:

1. the wonderful and frightening world
2. hex education hour
3. perverted by language
4. code:selfish
5. grotesque (after the gramme)

PAULYBEE2656 08.27.2008 10:56 AM

oh for sure its on a par if not better than country on the click.. dr bucks letter is amazing as too is two librans... a much forgotten album.... kinda like the light users syndrome...everyone seems to forget how great those albums are!

atsonicpark 08.27.2008 11:19 AM

The Unutterable is very underrated, agreed. I don't think it's as good as Real New Fall but Unutterable certainly gets the lower end of the stick when talking about Fall albums. I also really like Are You Are Missing Winner, though I don't know if many people do..

atsonicpark 08.27.2008 11:20 AM

Anyway, since I haven't done a top 10 in a few pages...

1. grotesque
2. slates
3. hex
4. dragnet
5. witch trials
6. perverted
7. saving grace
8. wonderful and frightening world
9. real new fall
10. room to live

that's how I'm feeling right now...

I still haven't heard slates nor dragnet nor witch trials, which i see, is a shame since our local walking encyclopaedia ranked them so high.

atsonicpark 08.27.2008 11:27 AM

Hahaha.

They're great!!

atsonicpark 08.27.2008 11:49 AM

PAULYBEE2656 08.27.2008 11:59 AM

a real good read..............

atsonicpark 08.27.2008 12:00 PM

I wish I could find that over here for a decent price.

noisereductions 08.27.2008 12:02 PM

I can tell you the jist of the book w/o reading it... every chapter is about how somebody is "the C word" in Mark's opinion.

atsonicpark 08.27.2008 12:02 PM

hahahaha

PAULYBEE2656 08.27.2008 12:06 PM

what do you mean, there is absolutely no mention of the word "cautious" in it!!!!

adam, that would be the dollar i reckon!!! its dirt cheap to buy from the states from here!

atsonicpark 08.27.2008 12:09 PM

It's $23 on amazon (plus shipping) right now, only used copies. Weird.

Jesus, Imperial Wax Solvent is $34!!!!!! More for a piece of plastic than a hardback book?

Damn imports.

This review on amazon.com is funny, though. It says the song "50 Year Old Man" is a test to the true fan of the Fall. Hahaha.

PAULYBEE2656 08.27.2008 12:12 PM

ha, that works out at about 15 euros for the book.. thats cheaper than what i paid for it over the counter! i paid 25 euros

34 dollars, that is steep! for a cd from amazon

i got the new negativland album for about 17 euro plus 8 of that was shipping costs.....

may the dollar get weaker!!!!!!!!!!!! joking. i love your money!

atsonicpark 08.27.2008 12:14 PM

haha.

Money-loving rep.

PAULYBEE2656 08.27.2008 12:18 PM

Mark Smith (born April 10, 1967) is an American former race car driver born in McMinnville, Oregon. The son of Evergreen International Aviation founder Del Smith, Mark raced in Indy Lights from 1990 to 1992, finishing 3rd in series points his rookie year and 2nd in 1991, capturing 3 wins along the way. He then moved up to the CART series and finished 22nd in series points in 1993 for Arciero Racing and 19th in 1994 for Walker Racing. His best CART finish was 5th place in the 1994 Michigan 500. Smith was bumped from the field in his attempts to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 those two years. His 1993 bumping at the hands of Didier Theys occurred just 6 minutes before the end of qualifications that year.

atsonicpark 08.27.2008 12:47 PM

For some reasons, Americans and British people don't know how to spell dialog or cemetery.

In fact, I think I just spelled them wrong.

Don't forget "theatre".
