There is a heavy influence of Spacemen 3's sound in Deerhunter's Cryptograms. You can hear some similarities in Spacemen 3's Come Down Softly To My Soul and Deerhunter's Octet.

The opening guitar part of Beat Happenings "I Spy" reminds me of the opening of the Sex Pistol's "Pretty Vacant".

Also the opening riff of the Wiper's "What Is" sounds exactly like that in "Telepathic Love". When I heard "What Is" for the first time I thought it was a redo of "Telepathic Love".

I don't hear the similarity (apart from the fact there's harmonics and tremolo picking in both songs, but you hear that in many SY songs so...).

Maybe if Schizophrenia was sped up the songs would sound similar, that may be what you mean.
