Getting ready for MLB 2K9.....fuck yes.

chairman of the bored 02.13.2009 09:45 PM

oh yeah....whos excited for noby noby?:

"Keita Takahashi, the crazy mind behind Katamari Damacy, is bringing his next creation to the PlayStation Store next Thursday. Noby Noby Boy is a downloadable, er, game that ... well. How about you watch the video and YOU tell us what it's about?

The confusion that surrounds Noby Noby Boy is part of its charm. In fact, it's so bizarre that even the creator doesn't know why he made it. He states that some people may not even consider it to be a game at all: "By making an undefined and ambitious game, I want the player's reaction to be something like, 'I don't know why, but it's somehow interesting. I can't stop playing.' In that way, I would feel I have succeeded at creating what I wanted, that is, creating something that's not easily describable."

Yeah, I think that might have been the 1st and I can't think of any others besides the RE series.

noisereductions 02.23.2009 10:37 AM

Yeah I thought of RE right after I typed that. But definitely there were very few. Very few on Nintendo consoles in general.

noisereductions 02.24.2009 06:33 PM

well I dont agree. But they do attempt to market to a "general audience." Ever read the essay about porting Maniac Mansion to NES?

Derek 02.24.2009 06:46 PM

I've not.

Nintendo just make games that everyone can have fun with. It makes no difference to my enjoyment if a game has gore or not.

I used to have a used copy of Maniac Mansion w/ instruction booklet that I bought at "Funco Land" (now GameStop) when I was a youngster. The game was far too difficult for me to comprehend at that age and I traded it back in a heartbeat.

Along with ditching my trusted N64 to put towards a PS2, it was one of the biggest mistakes of my video gaming career.

noisereductions 02.24.2009 07:00 PM

Maniac Mansion rules. I used to play it when I was 12. Of course, I didnt get far, but I felt like I was some kind of a genius for even trying to figure it out.

Still playing this even though I've beaten it about 3 times on each alignment.

Srsly, if you have a Gamecube or Wii and like creepy stuff, you need a copy of this. It can't be more than about $10-15 used.

Mega Man 8 fucking rocked! I loved the clown level so much. And beating the water balloon guy with just the buster. My friend and I played that and X4 all the time. Goddamn. I need to break those out again.

noisereductions 02.24.2009 09:00 PM

The only X I played was the first one. And I'm a huge oldschool MM fan,so I really wanna pick up the X collection for PS2.

acousticrock87 02.24.2009 09:05 PM

I think they're more fun, but quite a bit easier than the old ones.

I still have never beaten the final boss of any MM game, though. Not even in the X series. I can always beat the eight levels, and just get frustrated at the end.

noisereductions 02.24.2009 09:20 PM

Mega Man X was the only MM game I ever beat in its entirety! I've come so close on so many of them. And yet. Why do I still love them?

Dr. Eugene Felikson 02.25.2009 08:08 PM

I just picked up a SEGA Genesis from the local Salvation Army that my girlfriend works at. I grew up a Nintendo fan-boy and never really had much experience with any SEGA system other than the GameGear.

Sadly, I only have one controller and the original NHL game (no, not '94...*sigh*) so far.

noisereductions 02.26.2009 08:30 AM

94 was the shiz. I was a pretty equal Sega/Nintendo fanboy back then. It's funny, cuz now I'm so into Sony consoles. The thing is this: Nintendo ORIGINAL games are always incredible (Mario's, Zelda's and so on) but then games that come out on multi-consoles tend to suck on Nintendo (unless we're talking Mortal Kombat 2).

I'm playing this. Kitana/Mileena always kick my ass, worse than Raiden even.

noisereductions 02.26.2009 09:26 AM

Kitana's a beeeeyotch.

the insanity effects are genius. I heard that nintendo still runs the patent on this kind of effects

Tru fax. They own the patent to the sanity effect in games. Rumors have been churning about an Eternal Darkness sequel for years but naught has come of it.

al shabbray 03.07.2009 06:44 PM

oh it would be an instant buy for me if I own the system.
eternal darkness is such a classic, with a lot of great ideas, + a rich gamelength. typical "alot for the money"- nintendo style
