The Dream of the Blue Turtles is a good album. Bring on the Night is an okay live one. Ten Summoner's Tales is a great pop rock record.

I like Sting much more without the Police.

He's a nice guy, he cares about things, and he has made many a fine song (and LP). You can't mess with songs like 'Shadows in the Rain', 'Seven Days', If I Ever Lose My Faith', Fields of Gold' etc. I think Sting has a bit of class about him. Sorry.

I've been getting more acquainted with the Beach Boys recently. After hearing Lee singing 'I know there's an answer' I dug out my pet sounds record and just got right into it. It's an extreme, I know, but it's pretty sonic when you get into it. Listen to the organs on 'Here Today' and you'll know what I mean.

Also, The Violent Femmes. Dude! Too cool for... country. The drummer is really friendly, y'know.

Adore and Machine are great albums, and Gish isn't that good. Siamese Dream is over rated and MCIS is much better.

4. Lightning Bolt is a ruins ripoff.
5. Wolf Eyes wishes they were half as witty as Black Dice.

7. NYG&F was a horrible album for SY standards.
8. Locust are an incredible band.

13. The Postal Service sound like generic car commercial music.

17. Slowdive is unoriginal and just another carbon copy of My Bloody Valentine.
18. Shoegazer is "so early 90s" and that Ride, Lush, Chapterhouse, Catherine Wheel, and Slowdive all sound the same.
19. People in Los Angeles need to get over shoegazer and realize that there was much better music after 1992.
20. The last great true hardcore punk movement was Gravity in the early 90s.

22. Majority of the new psychedelic noise folk bands today cannot pull off what Califone/Red Red Meat were doing 15 years ago.

That is a good point, and I agree. Jim's basslines were more complex and with more note-heavy, but they followed along very closely with what the guitars were doing. I like how Kim's lines are kind of off and sort of out of tune with the guitars and stuff, and how they are very simple but really go good with the music. It's a nice contrast with the music.

The Rolling Stones are WAY overrated.
