All things considered, I actually dig that part of Supernaut BETTER than if Santana had actually did it, because it is is such a mystifying contrast of styles it is like snow in the desert. You are befuddled by it, forced inward to try and make sense of this sonically induced synesthesia..

I get the same effect from the jammy breakdown in Symptom of the Universe

Fucking shit, that is epic like Homer or Shakespeare

The power of contrast is the most moving in music

Symptom does have an amazing breakdown.

Sabbath always had more interesting sounds to my ears than the Zepp. I find a lot of Zepp riffs very stilted, and I hate that hipster-ass Robert Plant... ;)

The hipsters now dress like hybrid of goths and ravers from the very early 90s i.e. black bomber jackets, those round john lennon style glasses but with black lenses, gold jewellery, tight trousers and a black beanie like this:

Like all the misfits outside the YMCA in Whitechapel Road. It's no wonder I'm so confused.

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 05.30.2013 04:05 PM

yes, I always think of hipsters are not being locked into one style per se, so much as being part of a constantly revolving series of very cliched "looks" from different eras and times, most often horribly mismatched. Essentially, hipster is the revisting of that terrible time in the early 1990s when cross-colors and surrealist cuts/styles were in vogue. Today hipsters look like transplanted anachronistic mannequins ;)

I have always thought that M.I.A, who I think defines the hipster sense of fashion in London at least, always takes inspiration from the window shops you get in the Aldgate/ Whitechapel areas because of their battered, randomly put together, wholesale nature. I'm not sure why I have quoted your post now.

threads like these are why i never visit here anymore. bye.

Genteel Death 05.30.2013 05:07 PM

Don't be a hipster, Derek.

Trama 05.30.2013 05:19 PM

I think the pejorative sense of the word has less to do with fashion and more with a certain blasé attitude that got associated with the term.

Toilet & Bowels 05.30.2013 05:21 PM

See ya!

is that intellectual or simply hipster then?

demonrail666 05.30.2013 07:58 PM

Hipsters are lovely. They keep me in a job and are far too blasé to ever complain about how shit I am at it.
