Battles - Mirrored
|
I approve. ^
|
Aside from Mirrored, the stuff I've been into lately is all old stuff, vintage rock and punk. So I decided it was time to catch up with today's youth movement, & got Deerhoof's Friend Opportunity and Raccooo-oo-oon's Behold Secret Kingdom. (on vinyl)

I didn't but I'm not surprised, because you're so cool. I also am the proud owner of Mirrored on vinyl. |

That is one cool fucking aunt! I'm jealous. A vinyl copy of that album has been on my wishilist forever. |

From a quick count in this thread, about 6. |

oww, man! i wanted to make you jealous! just kidding, it's a wonderful work they did with the pressing and the package. |
I agree. Presents a good case for owning a turntable! A beautful job by Warp.
I tend to buy nothing these days on CD, even new releases. LPs or nothing, basically, for me. |
Exile on main st.
had the album on mp3, but i felt i should "own" a copy of the album. |
Those who do not own it shall wander forever lost.

So my question is: What are we all doing indoors sitting at our computers on this beautiful day off? Or is it bad weather where y'all are or something?

Howlin' Wolf- the Best Of |
my parents came to visit me and brought some cds. a pile of classical stuff like baroque and russion compsers, brahms 4th, and a few other stuff.
and they also brought me 4 cds that i asked for X-wild gift Electrelane-no shouts no calls MV+EE with the bummer road-green blues and most importantly albert ayler-spiritual unity all of them are fucking brilliant, but the AA and electrelane take the cake for me. |

Yeah man, mixed in with all the shitty (Shaggy, etc...) were a few jems a Some of the standouts were Talking Heads- Speaking In Tongues (cd) Tom Waits- Rain Dogs (LP! I hope she decides to give this to me, too.. I asked, but shedidn't want to part with it). A couple Simon + Garfunkel LP's etc. |
Wow. A musical aunt is a rare thing. She sounds very kool.

DDN Deluxe was the last album I bought. Before that it was probably something by Bright Eyes.
|
Just received the 12 cd 'Desertshore Installation' by Throbbing Gristle.
It's a complete, warts 'n all recording of the six, 2 hour sessions that they did at the ICA last month. Fuck knows when I'll get a chance to listen to it all, but it looks lovely in its TG branded CD wallet. |
today arrived on glorious vinyl:
neurosis - given to the rising (beautiful work, triple gatefold style artwork, insert, thick vinyl) melt banana - bambi's dilemma (finally!!!) |
Confusion/Gentleman- Fela Kuti

Saxon - Crusader (picture disc, five bucks) |
yesterday i bought the new york dolls debut for my friend's birthday, she's getting into glam rock and i thought this was quite appropiate.
|
I went to Black Dog records here in Houston this saturday and found some cool Police 7" singles I did not have (Da Doo Doo Doo, Synchronicity II, and Don't Stand So Close To Me, all with intact picture sleeves)
and I also had my riend willord point this album out, which I bought, because I have no Buddy Miles on album. It is a funky soul funk guitar thing but what struck me the most was it's title From 1969 Buddy Miles EXPRESSWAY TO YOUR SKULL ![]() does anyone know if there is any connection between this 1969 record and the sonic's Expressway? |
Quote:
that is very appropriate! get her the dirtiest glam around! |
yeah rob, that's what i thought, to give her the real deal.

Our Love To Admire- Interpol
|
Quote:
yes, actually it's the second collaboration between xiu xiu and italian band larsen, it's melancholic weird songs, less on the abrassive or folky side of xiu2; most of the songs are instrumental. jamie sings a song, caralee sings another song; i quite like it but i have heard it all the way through just once. |
