I don't have a record player which seriously inhibits my cool music buying ability...

can you drive? or do you have friends who can drive who enjoy decent music that would be willing to take you to where there is a decent record store (aka civilisation)??

really if you find a place that sells LPs you've got a lot more choices because you can usually find more obscure stuff there.

as for the internet -- itunes store, amazon, ebay...

oh and get a turn table.

viewtiful_alan 07.18.2008 03:41 PM

To the first question: me and my friends are in the process of getting licences' so that will be happening soon. And sadly enough my taste is the coolest of my all my friends (lamb of god, foo fighters.... (I have gottent hem to like sonic and boris though)).
And yeah I know of a place that's kind of out there that my parents refuse to take me to so I'll be going there myself come time XD

And yeah... I just don't really know what to buy....

I love pictures like these. They're always fairly funny.

greedrex 07.18.2008 03:46 PM

i take it you're pretty young
you can't KNOW evrything / learn everything at once, at the same time
take yr time to digest it all
it's nt because it's obscure that it's gonna be good and vice versa
it's not because it's really famous that it's going to be bullshit.
but there are exceptions
take the Rolling Stones for instance, everybody knows them, however they're dipshit.

Own that on vinyl, it was my dad's.

Also came with a massive poster, which I have on my wall.

I was listening to the recording I made of this...

The Nels Cline Singers
7-18-08
Bijou Theatre
Knoxville, TN

The show was phenomenal, & the recording turned out great. I just have to do some amplifying & editing, & I should have a complete boot sometime soon.

Sure thing. I should have it finished by this evening. Here's a tracklist to give an idea of how the set went...

Blood Drawing
A Mug Like Mine
Thurstonious
Exiled
Reconciliation

[Intermission]

Fly, Fly
Sunken Song
Jackieing
He Still Carries A Torch For Her
Confection
Cause For Concern

[Encore]

Dedication

After the set was finished, of course during the breakdown of the stage set-up, I talked w/ Nels & the rest of the group, the koolest people you'd ever want to have a conversation w/. Nels had his "MegaMouth" w/ him, & was giving us all a tutorial after the show. Also got Nels' signature, he wrote...

"Peace In Our Time" - Nels Cline

Sorry for rambling. I'll let you know when it's finished & downloadable.
