Yes, I would also recommend not listening to anything I say. Apart from the Jacks, I refuse to believe anyone wants to come up with a defence of them.

Word. I'm surprised Catherine Wheel are even remembered - they're in my head-category as being a bit like 18 Wheeler, ie, utterly forgotten for good reason.

I thought L'un Marquer was one of the rubbish WWVV records to be honest and I like Davenport better than them as well.

Each of you ignored my question considering Live Skull.

anyway, to add a few more, I've heard some bits and pieces from these and they left me wanting to hear more:

The Residents
Caroliner
lots of japanese noisefucks and psych rockers
Whitehouse
Muslimgauze
Khanate

I bought an album a few years ago. I only listened to it once. I realised I had to get a present for a mate and shouldn't've been spending money I didn't have. So he has it now. He likes it a lot. I should re-invest in some I think.

Bong Ra I would like to own more music by, but have been disappointed with everything I've found thus far (although I know Peel played some ra I really liked).

Wasn't he as prolific as Merzbow?I wouldn't know where to start if it came to buying any of his albums. If someone knows his music better than i do,please suggest.

Oh and in regard to Third Eye Foundation, the cover for 'You guys kill me' merits a special mention:

Yeah, if memory serves, he had this weird sort of kudos as living in a sea shack on the coast of rural Wales, no-one knew anything about him, and the post-humous releases are into the hundreds now.

18 Wheeler have to be one those bands whose records pratically lived in a bargain bin box from the second day they came out. What,in the name of God,is a 18 Wheeler song?

porkmarras 06.12.2006 08:58 AM

Give me Out of my hair anytime. At least he had a couple of good songs.

Toilet & Bowels 06.12.2006 09:01 AM

18 wheeler along side whipping boy, scarfo & bennet

porkmarras 06.12.2006 09:04 AM

And what about Rialto?Eh?

Savage Clone 06.12.2006 09:05 AM

There are a suprisingly large number of people that hold a torch for Catherine Wheel.

As for Ride, Nowhere is their best album by far IMO. I saw them on that tour and they were truly incredible. They wound up disappointing me later, but for a while they were one of the best rock bands going.

porkmarras 06.12.2006 09:10 AM

''Do you remeber about us?Best dressed band in Britain for 2 nights and then fuck all.One of us was collecting glasses in the The Monarch for a while till he went on to manage Bloc Party.''

porkmarras: Stardust is still a top song though.

Phlegmscope 06.12.2006 09:15 AM

Oh and I forgot to mention Loop. They were an inspiration for Circle and in fact, early Circle sounds considerably similar to Loop.

porkmarras 06.12.2006 09:20 AM

I wonder if anyone on here is curious to hear a band called Thee Hypnotics. If you are not,you should well be.

porkmarras 06.12.2006 09:21 AM

Everyone should have Loop records in their houses. They are better than life insurances. And they don't cost as much.
