I don't see a difference between the internet and let's say the telephone.
Lately, the law seems to think that too - a lot of stuff carried out online is punished as if it did anywhere else, why should there be a difference?

It's always people.

knox 08.03.2010 12:14 PM

the other day I had a long argument with a friend.
he doesn't think the police should go after people publishing let's say white power websites inciting violence.
but he thinks the police should go after people who say those things out loud in public, or publish books and/or magazines.
I don't understand why there should be a difference.

It's like saying if someone mugs me he should be arrested, if someone hacks into my account online then he shouldn´t.

Then I asked him about paedophilia. He said that was a different subject and the police should go after these people. So I still don't understand these guidelines.

I don't know, I'm a pretty even tempered chill and respectful person. When I get on stage I let all my stress out. When I get on the internet I just like to be a clown, or an ass, or test jokes or whatever. I wouldn't want this "deaddiscodildo" persona to reflect my true self.

I think it all depends.

SYG is not a place I try to act respectable...if that makes sense.

I don't think the analogy is right - comparing speech/writing to criminal acts.
Your friend isn't consistent. Funny why he thinks books are more dangerous than a website, and scary he thinks the thought police should be activated against them.

the internothing is simply the deepest control device the Spectacle has ever created.

yes, one for each tit.

I'm just the same exact twat on and offline. I mean I say the same things but it's probably harder to get them right. Very often I'll meet people and they'll say "I thought you were a right bitch, but you're not", which is a disappointment for them in a way.

I think the whole debate started because publishing or making racist remarks is a crime here.

Does that make you a semi real retard who's easier to deal with on the internet? Or a real retard who's half aware of their own existence? I was just wondering.
