I like writing, but I figured that is not my strongest point.
edit- what's the story about? |

That's a nice start. It'd be fine if I didn't have to take into account my position for or against the large influx of immigrants after WWII, the National Front or the large number of clandestine French speaking immigrants from the Maghreb, |

it's just a little personal thing i want to write and get out of the way. the character's very similar to me so it's nothing amazing or even good but something i want to write. josh- haha, you've lost me. i just went to babelfish and typed in some stuff. |
Babelfish ftw. That's what I'm going to do. Last time we had to write, I forgot about it and had to do it from scratch. That's not going to help me pass this writing course. I don't have time to translate by hand.
|
for my bigger spanish projects we were expected to use a dictionary or look at a conjugation chart, but all anyone ever did is just go on babel. teachers really can't tell at all, even if we didn't understand what we were saying.
|
The only real problem with online translations is the verbs something don't come out right and if you know what they should be, it's no big deal to change them. I wrote all my essays for last year using translators. It beats writing short, choppy sentences from memory or looking up every word.

cool Jade. If you ever finish it let me read it.
|
last year my teacher had an obvious favorite in the class, and the other 30 of us really didn't matter, so we'd purposely throw in wrong verbs or mangle phrases because she wouldn't care at all because we were the scum of the earth as far as the spanish language goes. but really, i'm good at writing in spanish. i always failed listening assignments, but i can read and write.

sure! i'm mad i lost my little usb drive between moving houses. i had a ton of thigs i've written on there. my moleskine journals truly have the good stuff, but i'm too lazy to type it up;. |

I can read and listen in French but I can't write worth a damn. I've never bothered to memorize any of the verbs other than the 10 or so that we used constantly for two years. |
i can list maybe 30 spanish verbs and a few verb phrases because i found that's all i never needed to know apparently to do pretty damn well on tests. other than "yo soy jade y soy alta. tengo pelo oscuro." (i am jade and i am tall. i have brown hair.) knowing how to basically say who i am and two traits broguth me far.
despite knowing very little french and italian, i can read them and figure out the gist of what i'm reading. but don't try to converse with me in either language. |
De que estamos hablando?

ooh, your classes sound fun.
necesito ir a mi cama, pero no estoy cansada. |
It does, but I have to fill my time while I figure something with my life.

Learning one Romance language pretty much gives you the ability to understand about 80% of any other Romance language, which is very useful.
I'm to the point now where I need to move beyond the basic "I am" "I like" "I can do" and basic past and future (which I constantly forget how to form) in order to do well. Abstract thought is murder. |
i can read things in welsh, but rarely does an opportunity arise to even speak welsh.
the only form of spanish i struggle with for some reason is the past tense. the imperfect stuff is good, but just "i went to the store", i have to think about. |
Any other German speakers here? Koennten Sie mir etwas empfehlen, was ich heute tun machen sollte, bevor ich meine Mutter spaeter am Abend treffe?
