Check out the world music thread.

I bought some probably bunk 'as seen on TV' compilation lp because it had a Lee Dorsey track on it. It was only 50p though. Also bought a comp of French stuff (Francoise Hardy, Les Cyclones, Jean-Jacques Debout). Seems like it's probably middle of the road stuff but there's already been one fairly killer track by some band called The "Octopus" (their quotation marks not mine) which is probably worth the pound I paid for it.

Red Kites quite good.. the vocals and the "out" guitar playing is quite something.. Quite different from the other freak folk/weird psych outfits... Ethereal is a good word to describe their sound... I just hope they will release something on properly printed CDs or vinyl. You should try to catch them, based on what I have heard on the disc..

Iain 05.01.2007 09:41 PM

Yes, I hope they put some more stuff out soon.

I am trying to arrange a show for them so hopefully that will happen quite soon.

That one's really great.. and hilarious. First time I heard it was in the Rap Damage video and I couldn't stop smiling and rewinding it. I scored a copy from Yod soon after that. Thye should still have some if anyone else is looking for it. The only problem is that their sales site has been down for about a year now.

pokkeherrie 05.02.2007 08:12 AM

Merzbow/Carlos Giffoni/Jim O'Rourke - Electric Dress
Merzbow/Carlos Giffoni - Synth Destruction
Death Unit - Infinite Death
Death Unit/Prurient - Terminal Cases

All Giffoni indeed, as I bought them at his gig (with Hive Mind) yesterday. Maybe 4 was a bit much, but for now I can still justify it, so no worries there.

whorefrost 05.02.2007 04:32 PM

ordered and awaiting:

Vampire Can't - Key Cutter
Merzbow/O'Rourke/Giffoni - Electric Dress
Merzbow + New Blockaders
New Blockaders + Haters - Zero is the Journey
Skaters - Dark Rye Bread
Starving Weirdos - Harry Smith
Brotzmann Octet - Machine Gun

pokkeherrie 05.03.2007 03:42 AM

NNCK - Aftypiclipse
NNCK - Angelo Mai

Haven't had time to listen to either yet; hopefully later today.
