This really hit the spot last night.
Truly, an underrated modern-horror masterpiece.

YES! I love Cabin Fever. It gets a lot of flack. But I love the shiz out of it. I think it's brilliant. Brilliant!

I don't think it's brilliant, but it has its moments... Giuseppe Andrews and the pancakes kid make the movie watchable.

I just think it's great. One of those I can watch over and over. Ah. You know me and my taste. Shrug. haha.

Naked Lunch is interesting to me, because I had to watch it about 10 times before I really liked it. I saw it a few times about, oh, 7 years ago at this point... and was just like "ehhh", aside from a few scenes and the awesome ending.... but somehow, it stuck with me. I just found it a bit dull and nowhere near the, um, experience of reading the book. But, again, it stuck with me and I kept watching it and watching it and watching it, with friends or by myself, over the years. Finally, I bought the Criterion DVD last year back and sat down and watched it for the first time in about 2 years. And, finally, now, I can say that I pretty much love it. I dunno why I had such a tough time loving it to begin with... I just felt that something was a bit off about the whole thing. But it's still a compelling film that will definitely make a lasting impression on anyone who dares to watch it.

Foolish mortal...

Eli Roth just kinda sucks.

Can't hate him too bad, though, since he clearly has a good taste in films. Having Miike and Giuseppe in your movies is also quite amazing.

noisereductions 07.28.2009 07:38 PM

well, as usual this is a disagreement we've had enough times to not go thru it again, brother. But I think Roth is great. I hope he finished TRAILER TRASH, cuz his THANKSGIVING trailer was amazing. (with obvious MAJORETTES reference).

atsonicpark 07.28.2009 07:46 PM

TRAILER TRASH could never be as good as... TRAILER TOWN!:

In all seriousness, though, I think Eli Roth will one day probably make some good films. He just hasn't made any I've personally enjoyed yet. "Thanksgiving", in my opinion, is definitely his best work though. Actually, that was my favorite thing in all of Grindhouse's 3 hours.

noisereductions 07.28.2009 07:59 PM

Cabin Fever is my favorite of his three...

atsonicpark 07.28.2009 08:08 PM

Hah, well, no disagreeing there.

noisereductions 07.28.2009 08:11 PM

I probably liked Hostel 2 more than the first. Because it seemed more interesting to me. The first was tense, but straight torture porn is tiresome as well.

I say all this, but loved all 3 anyway.

atsonicpark 07.28.2009 08:17 PM

Hostel 1 and 2 were pretty much exactly the same to me, except Hostel 2 had hotter chicks in it. So, 2 gets my nod as well.

noisereductions 07.28.2009 08:19 PM

2 was tamer... nudity and violence wise. But had a better story. It was like Kill Bill vs. Kill Bill 2 in my opinion. The first was the action. The second was the story.

atsonicpark 07.28.2009 08:21 PM

No comment, I don't want to get into an argument about the merits/nonmerits of Kill Bill here :)
