I noticed that I also have a b&w video from the pre-concert rehearsal for the show that had occurred on the night previous in Stockholm, Sweden.
This is from FM broadcast and the sound is excellent and crystal clear on this one.
The show starts with Mingus talking about being arrested for shoplifting earlier in the day. The first set starts minus Jaki Byard who was still in police custody*, but he arrives shortly thereafter. Mingus explains that the arrests were due to a misunderstanding. He and Jaki had paid the clerk, but unknowingly with the incorrect amount, and as they were on the sidewalk outside, they were confronted by a policeman.

the band:
Charles Mingus: bass
Eric Dolphy: alto sax, flute, bass clarinet
Clifford Jordan: tenor sax
Jaki Byard: piano
Dannie Richmond: drums
with Johnny Coles on trumpet

Disc 1 (early set)
1. intro 6:28
2. So Long, Eric 19:13
3. intro 1:47
4. AT FW USA 4:11
5. intro 1:33
6. Orange Was the Color Of Her Dress, Then Blue Silk 15:12
7. Meditations 22:21

Disc 2 (late set)
1. intro 0:46
2. Ow! 25:36
3. Fables Of Faubus 36:43

notes:
Meditations (false start) omitted for time on audio disc, but appears on the video. Mingus eerily comments to Dolphy: "We sure are gonna miss your ass, Eric..."
This is from soundboard, but there is some background distortion present, so it isn't as crystal-clear as the Copenhagen date. There is a Stuttgart and a Bremen show as well, and each of these have fantastic sound like the Copenhagen show.
The video is definitely not to be missed.

Jaki Byard - piano
Johnny Coles - trumpet
Eric Dolphy - alto sax, bass clarinet, flute
Clifford Jordan - tenor sax
Charles Mingus - bass
Dannie Richmond - drums

Ow...Thank you very much Atari... i love you, man!:)

atari 2600 03.22.2007 05:42 PM

PM me for this FM sbd a little later; you've got that amazing piece of archival video to burn and watch first!

The next one I'll send a PM to you for (Stuttgart 4/28/64) is beyond excellent with extra-extended versions of the tunes...e.g., So Long, Eric (30:28), Fables Of Faubus (43:51), Meditations (30:50)!

Hip Priest 03.22.2007 06:47 PM

Does anyone know if there is a relatively simple way to splice up a whole audio file into different parts, or remove unwanted bits? Does that even make sense? I have a few that are one big long teack, and I'd like to divide them up into seperate files.

atari 2600 03.22.2007 06:59 PM

sure, there are splitters...I'll PM you a link for a free one with a keygen if you want some pirate(d) booty, otherwise, you're going to have to pay at least 19.95 somewhere.

I actually had a great one, but I waited too long to "fix" it. This one (still) works well though.

Hip Priest 03.22.2007 07:02 PM

Thanks; I don't mind paying for something if it's good. What one would you recommend?

atari 2600 03.24.2007 10:36 AM

I don't know, there's many out there...I haven'ttried them all by any means.

The one I have now is called Absolute mp3 splitter and joiner. It works for .wmas even, which is good. It's not extremely fast like another I had but failed to "register" hehee in time. That one is called "Cool mp3 Splitter." Although it's lightning-quick, it wouldn't split .wma .mp3s, so you had to convert them (renaming the file extension wouldn't do it either.)

atari 2600 03.24.2007 10:39 AM

Hey guys (Tokolosh & andrei) the BigO guy wrote me back and came through.

So, there's Bremen 4/16/64 now...just PM me when you're ready.

They've got some Grateful Dead (of course there's a ton), Warren Zevon (a lot), Camper Van Beethoven, Cracker, GYBE!, Mogwai, Bardo Pond, Bad Livers, Minutemen, fIREHOSE, a few Ween, Xiu Xiu, a few Velvet Underground...a smattering of other good artists...
http://www.archive.org/browse.php?fi...llection=etree
it's mostly (as many know) jam bands and the like....but some of it is localized music that's good like Athens' Drive-By Truckers and Vigilantes of Love.

Thanks so much for that link! They have the Bardo Pond show I saw last year, can't wait to hear it sober. Thanks again

I think I still have a dime account, yes.

atari 2600 03.25.2007 04:53 PM

makes sense then...
this one's pretty good...at least definitely interesting for an aural glimpse of Fred...

Katy 03.25.2007 04:59 PM

I've never downloaded anything from Dime, though. I never really got into it.

I would say 80%(?) of all my bootlegs come from aliens.

Do you know any aliens, Atari?

atari 2600 03.25.2007 05:04 PM

No, but I've shared this. I suppose it probably ended up on soulseek or somewhere from me or from others on other boards/blogs that shared it lossy from back when it was originally seeded a couple of years ago.

Throbbing Gristle - Best Of.....Volume I (from a blog)

Another excellent tape of legendary Throbbing Gristle, a tape full of ambient / noise soundscapes for future songs, just awesome. Best Of...Volume I was released on Industrial Records (IRC 0) in 1976.

Some notes about the tape :

"All material previously unrelesased. This tape was originally hand copied and sent to friends" Incorectly marked as a C60 (should be c90) on the tape linear notes. All the tracks on the tape are instrumental studio demos except Untitled 12 and Very Friendly. The versions of We Hate You Little Girls are instru- mental, at the end of ver. 1 applause and cheering can be heard as well someone saying "thank you", at the end of ver. 2 Genesis can be heard saying "It's getting worse, i'n' it?"The second last track on the tape is a recording of an American magician explaining a trick. The last track is a recording of two Neil Young songs - 'New Mama' starts, then is restarted and runs into 'Look Out Joe' - the recordings is taken from Young's 1975 album 'Tonight's The Night'

Tracks :

Side A

1 to 13 Untitled

Side B

1. Untitled 14
2. Untitled 15
3. Untitled 16
4. Untitled 17
5. Very Friendly (Part 1)
6. Very Friendly (Part 2)
7. We Hate You Little Girls (ver. 1)
8. We Hate You Little Girls (ver. 2)
9. American Magician Talking
10. Neil Young - New Mama / Look Out Joe

This is really random, but does anybody have Santana live at Woodstock? I've been looking for it forever.
