Floyd much?

Tanky, you should check out Simply Saucer some time, their LP Cyborgs Revisited. Like Floyd mixed with VU, the Stones, Can, and other stuff.

screamingskull 01.27.2008 11:41 AM

Sonic Youth - Kim's Chords

this is a great song! listening to it on repeat.

Yes, but unfortunately the radio put bleeps to hide swearwords which is really annoying.

I have to admit they're not a band I've paid much attention to, but I'd like to get into them. I don't want to unless I can pick their stuff up on vinyl, and I'm definitely going for the early stuff first. But classic rock radio and former stoned roommates have turned me off of Dark Side and all that comes after that, I'm afraid.

This is out on CD and LP, by the way:

ill go look for the LP some day

if you want to hear floyd-sounding floyd, which is a precursor to dark side, get something like meddle (echoes is fucking awesome) or i strongly suggest getting obscured by clouds, then get piper at the gates of dawn and move on from there. or listen to it on itunes first
i have every single one of their albums on vinyl (up until the wall, post-wall or post-waters just sucked) though so you know...i have a biased opinion

Nobody knows about this one but me. This is a lost gem from the late 1970s. It's like The Modern Lovers with more subtlety, like Talking Heads but they couldn't get into art school, like Television without the pretension and long guitar solos. Like Jackson Browne if he were smarter and better. Like Cheap Trick with four geeky guys instead of just two.

It's just good, I tell you.

MG3000 01.28.2008 12:45 PM

Iannis Xenakis - Persoplis (remixed)
Circle - Guillotine

Circle rules, especially on this one. Their latest release is more metal influenced, but this one has organs and really awesome vocals. reminds me of can mixed with with middle eastern style vocals. they're from finland though correct?
