And now our lighthearted-joke item to close tonight's proceedings:

~ Dingwalls in Camden plays host to Thurston Moore's wet dream Be Your Own Pet on the 26th of August.

Thats all for tonight!

This Is Not Here 07.29.2008 05:56 AM

And now more on the featured story - the fractured but nonetheless unending tale of Queenadreena and Daisy Chainsaw sideprojects -

~ Katie Jane Garside's alternative folk side project Ruby Throat will open for Catherine Anne Davis at the Bush Hall, 7th of August

~ Meanwhile Crispin and Nomi will be keeping themselves entertained with their side-band The dogbones, who play the Bull & Gate on the 20th of September.

and BREAKING NEWS from a reiable sorce (eg my mate what manages the Dogbones) is that Queenadreena have confirmed a London date for the coming monthes. Stay tuned for more details!!

The Domino Records gig in Oct sounds like a winner. Will see how the money situation is, and get a ticket for that as soon as I can. I wonder whether Wild Beasts named themselves after the 1982 Franco Prosperi film, where zoo animals gobble industrial strength quantities of PCP, and go on the rampage in a "major European City"?

This Is Not Here 07.29.2008 10:48 AM

Ha ha, quite possibly... My heart is really with Tricky and Skream on this one though, Wild Beasts sound a bit 'Antony and the Johnsons' to me. But hey, I may be wrong.

This Is Not Here 07.29.2008 10:50 AM

You seem like the sort of guy to whom Keiran Hebden & Steve Reid would appeal Melly, is this not so? (The Tricky tickets will go fast, there weren't great numbers left when I booked)

sarramkrop 07.30.2008 02:18 PM

The Sticks are playing at Catch 22 in Shoreditch on the 15th of August.

Yeah, I'd be up for that, too, as it happens.

This Is Not Here 07.30.2008 03:48 PM

cool - Slimelight, Colour out of space, Tricky, Keiran Hebden - it seems our paths shall converge often over the coming months!

MellySingsDoom 07.30.2008 03:52 PM

Should be good fun, eh, This Is Not Here!

This Is Not Here 07.30.2008 03:55 PM

Yeah I'm actually really looking forward to the shit I've got planned for the next few monthes, some really seminal gigs are long overdue...

February 14, 2009 [EDIT - February 13, according to The Forum web page]
Kentish Town Forum
Magazine (yes, THAT Magazine - the ideal valentines day treat for your beloved!)

Magazine are reforming for their first gigs since 1982. They play in February at Manchester Academy (13) and London Forum (14). Tickets go on sale on September 15.

The line-up is Howard Devoto, Barry Adamson, Dave Formula and John Doyle. Promoters Gig Cartel told PS: "We don't know who will play guitar in place of John McGeoch. It may be a special guest, but we can't confirm who yet."

Accessible enough from London to count, if people are keen enough:

October 6
Brighton Concorde 2
Melvins

_slavo_ 08.02.2008 02:17 AM

ew, Melvins. One of the worst shows of this year so far for me.

October seems like it's going to be ''hot'' in London. And that film rules.
