Buh! I wish I could spend all my pay on records instead of only most of it. What's that Panicsville one like if you've managed to have a listen yet. I've heard a few of their tracks and was really surprised how...un-noisy it is.

Classic.

I got my first-ever copy this summer, too. Reissued vinyl. So nice.

JAMC - Barbed Wire Kisses ('88 B-Sides)
JAMC - Sound of Speed ('93 B-Sides)
Stooges - S/T (Finally found a non-deluxe one - deluxe meaning way too much money. Just gave up and resorted to eBay, $7.50.)

in my push to expand my tastes i've been getting into electronica and jazz lately . . . so:

aphex twin -- selected ambient works 85-92
autechre -- tri repetae++
squarepusher -- hard normal daddy
dave brubeck -- time out
john coltrane -- giant steps
miles davis -- bitches brew

Toilet & Bowels 08.10.2006 08:56 PM

i don't understand it when people dedicate themselves to only one form of music.

How is this? I've been meaning to give Autechre a listen.

After a maybe a little less than a year of owning it and not understanding the appeal, OK Computer finally clicked. So I bought Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief. (Went to get Kid A but they didn't have it, so I got Amnesiac based on the Gondry video of Knives Out, and HttT because I've always loved the CD cover.)

Hail To the Thief is easily the best Rhead album, in my opinion. my second favourite is Amnesiac (so much better than Kid A.). i am not very into the Bends. and i recently got OK Compluter nd i dont see what the big hubbub is about.. its just a rock/pop album really.

That's exactly what I thought, so I just shrugged the band off completely. But watching their live stuff and watching interviews, it's something that's easier for me to appreciate as a reflection of good musicians. Though this is perhaps a form of musical bias, I actually think I began to like OK Computer just because I began to like them as people. Obviously I don't know them, but from what I've been seeing I just really admire them.

even though i love kid a and there experimental stuff ok computer is just awesome. I completely agreee that its just rock/pop but thats why I love it. Im going to pick up the bends tomorrow because i always wanted too.

k-krack 08.10.2006 11:01 PM

i don' really not like it, just it was/is way overhyped, like, it was not the best album of 1997. thats for damn sure.

porkmarras 08.11.2006 03:52 AM

Why is it that when people get into Radiohead they also buy Authecre albums?I know that the sack of dead chickens who goes by the name of Thom Yorke says that he's massively into them(not enough to inspire him to do something better with his band's music though) but really,Authecre and Aphex Twin are not the only innovative(i'm using this adjective simply because methinks it is the only thing that interests our Thom so he can wear his music taste like a 'look at me,i'm such a cool and tortured and complex kind of guy' badge) musicians out there.
