In regards to my comments about Lil Wayne, I was trying to say that perhaps I was pushing too much substance into Tupac's music, however with Lil Wayne, I wonder if there is ever any substance to speak of in the first place hence my surprise that this thread can honestly be so long...

there's tons of depth suchfriends. Yr just not looking in the right place.

agreed. that was my problem with Wayne. Lollipop is just too pop and rubs me the wrong way. his album cuts are a different story.

the songs with T-Pain are definitely embarassing, but A Milli on the other hand is fucking INSANE for a radio hit. no hooks, just Weezy going H.A.M over the beat.

Ricky Ross' new tape gonna drop in 4 hours and a half. HYPED.

Nas, Pharrell, John Legend, 2 Chainz, JUSTICE League.. all on a fucking mixtape. this is going to be SICK.
you don't know anything about hip-hop, bruh. Ross' last two albums were great & he's gotten even better.

louder 01.06.2012 02:25 PM

P.S. no one gives a fuck that Ross used to be a C.O. get over it.
he gets loads of respect from the hip-hop community these days.
he won his beefs vs. both 50 Cent & Jeezy. hell, even the Wu are down with Rozay.

louder 01.06.2012 02:26 PM

apparently the tape is also going to have a secret feature. might be Wayne or Andre3K.

E. Noisefield 01.06.2012 07:57 PM

I thought Ross's last record was good, but not as good as the rest of the world seemed to believe. I mean, I rocked it for several days, but it didn't define my year or anything. Still looking forward to anything new, though.

noisereductions 01.06.2012 08:47 PM

yeah Ross won me over in the last year or so. I used to sleep on his shit big time. But he's been killing every verse he's dropped on everyone else's shit. He's getting crazy good.

louder 01.07.2012 09:27 AM

the highlight of the tape was definitely Drake replying to Common's diss.

he gets better with time like wine. his next album should be special.

louder 01.07.2012 11:37 AM

oh i was totally aiming for an "original simile" in my post.

why are you always so salty, keep poppin pimples?

louder 01.09.2012 11:56 AM

gmku 02.15.2012 06:44 PM

I have no desire to.

This.

It's a great album, but most every time I put it on I feel the need to listen to The Velvet Underground instead only a few songs in.

noisereductions 02.18.2012 12:49 PM

yeah I got Lil B's White Flame recently. Good stuff.

sorry I haven't been around much. Busy with other stuff: yardsalegaming.wordpress.com

Severian 02.20.2012 06:51 PM

Lil B has definitely Shown serious promise and lately Wayne has shown very little of interest. Carters 2 and 3 were absolute forces of nature though. They humbled Mather's and played a huge role in 2000s hip hop.

I just wish rappers would stop calling themselves "lil ..." Its getting quite ridiculous.

Are you referring to B or to Wayne? Because I think Weeny has been overproduced. The guys an idiot. He could use the Marshal Mather's LP ti wipe his arse if he approached his music with a more organic ferocity.

I'm perhaps biased however because I've been waiting for Em's downfall for twelve years. As of now he's the biggest musical artist of a generation. That really should change.

Bs new mixtape is promising. I am eager to hear what comes next.

louder 02.21.2012 09:35 AM

Wayne doesn't even choose the songs for his own albums.

at least not C3, IANAHB & C4. dunno about C1 & C2.

You're right on about 3 and what came after. I am not sure about the earlier ones either, though. I heard Cortez Bryant picked the songs that end up on the albums, and Wayne was with Young Money until 2005, which is the year C2 was released. So I'm not sure who did what then, or even if he was with Bryant for 2. It's definitely disappointing to hear that. Not that every artist has the luxury of designing their own albums, especially when working for big labels, but it does take some of the feeling of personality out of the whole thing.

louder 02.24.2012 07:27 AM

Young Money just signed.. Limp Bizkit? 0_O

noisereductions 02.24.2012 08:47 PM

KoRn is good though.

louder 02.25.2012 06:06 AM

i can't take Young Money seriously anymore tbh.

oh my god hahaha

louder 03.24.2012 11:42 AM

Em probably loves his mom now. back in his younger days he was like "Britney's garbage, boy bands suck dick".. now he's collabing with Rihanna & Pink.

louder 03.25.2012 05:52 AM

Carter 4 was ruined for me cuz of Wayne's boring ass flow where he split every line into two parts.

a lot of these corny punchlines also seem like they were ghostwritten by Drizzly Drake.

i still have faith in him though. his recent features were good & he can only get better at this point.
