Are we having that old Kurt wrote Courtney Love's song? I'm tired of that, and the whole she killed him theory.

violet was written by courtney love in their van on october 31 1991 outside of a club in minneapolis. she was listening to a tape of nevermind and got pissed that one of her peers wrote something so "fiercely great" so she knocked out the riff and wrote the lyrics about billy corgan and that was that. doll parts was written by courtney about kurt in 1991. before they got together ie when she was still lusting after kurt. early versions appear on an ep called "ask for it" recorded at a john peel session on 17 november 1991.

don't fuck with my hole knowledge baby boy.

word!!!!

It's pretty well-know that Courtney wrote that shit about Billy Pumpkin.

So I guess Jeremy didn't speak in class. Today.

PS... "Jeremy" was NOT written by Beth Hovercraft, even if you think it's hipper to like her than Eddie.

Satan 09.15.2009 08:50 PM

sayin. fucking get the fuck out of 1995 please

Also, CS does not blow. The title track, "Northern Lights," "Drowning" are great songs. You can't say an entire record blows is there are good songs on it.

ps, I'm pretty sure that "Dying" (DYING) is Courtney's defining vocal performance.

Satan 09.15.2009 08:56 PM

she sounds pretty on that song

probably because the album is so overproduced

Consider also Nirvana jammed on the Violet riffs a year before Courtney "wrote it", Courtney claimed Old Age was always a Hole song (Even though Krist later said Kurt literally "Threw it away" to her), Listen to the lyrics to Doll Parts; That's Kurt. I'm one of those people are absolutely think Kurt wrote Live Through This.

~Jeremy~

Note that "violet" uses the exact same riff as "Garbadge Man", which was written in 1989. The lyrics for "Doll Parts" are not Kurt and neither is the song structure. The only way they're "Kurt" is if you ignore the fact that Courtney spent TONS of time with Kurt working on In Utero's lyrics (By the way, the title of that album was taken from a poem by Courtney) and was hugely influential on them. I mean, she wrote "Pennyroyal Tea"'s lyrics, but they weren't credited to her, were they? Besides, "Dicknail" is an awesome song unless you're a huge pussy who can't handle it. You're a moron and you should be shot. (kidding)

LTT is shit compared to POTI and so is Nevermind

You mean it was Courtney's most autotuned vocal performance

And yeah, this whole "Courtney killed Kurt even though he wrote her only good songs and therefor was instrumental in her desired rise to fame" bullshit got old a long time ago.

noisereductions 09.15.2009 08:58 PM

it is. Mostly. But I mean, "Celebrity Skin" sounds soooooo fucking good. As do the other two I mentioned. The rest is kind of meh. Compared to the others and ASKING FOR IT EP, etc. I never got Courtney's solo shit, cuz I assumed it was bad pop shit. Eric was so great.

i've actually been wearing this shirt all day but i did go and get the book off my shelf two feet away

infinitemusic 09.15.2009 09:02 PM

I can't stand CS. I hate the overproduction, the autotune, the sappiness, the campiness, the emotional dishonesty, the guns n roses influence, the fact that the bitch couldn't even pick up a guitar, and I especially can't stand the shitty lyrics.

And noise, who the hell is N Bloomfield?

Pennyroyal Tea was played live repeatedly in 1991, before Kurt and Courtney even got together, and the lyrics were about the same, so Courtney claiming she helped write the lyrics to that song (Or really any In Utero song, since many of them were written well before In Utero) is typical Courtney bullshit.

My favorite is when she said she wrote Dumb with Kurt and remembers him writing the chords, yet they played it in 1990 COMPLETELY UNCHANGED from the In Utero version, same lyrics and all.

I don't think Courtney killed Kurt (She was proven to be out of town that day anyway), and I don't believe he was murdered either. I do think though he wrote LTS or a good majority of it.

I was responding to infinitemusic who said Courtney didn't take credit for writing some Nirvana lyrics. I don't really see how I need to get out of 1995 when I was responding to something that doesn't even relate to a time period.

"omg kurdt ttly wrote all cortnys songs lol" is like, soooooo '95, kiddo. it's 2009.

exploding plastic candle 09.16.2009 01:02 AM

I think it's hard for people (as in guy with batman signature) to accept that Courtney Love could produce something that good because of what she became and what she is today.

drugs + crazy person = awesome + time = downward spiral

it's a trend. ever heard of syd barret?

anyone remember "D7"?

I did a cover of that with my junior high band for a talent show. Everyone was pissed as fuck because they thought we were going to play Teen Spirit. We didn't win, BTW :( Some boys dressed in womens clothes lip syncing to something like "girls just wanna have fun" won, and rightfully so...... damn entertaining!

atsonicpark 09.16.2009 01:35 AM

Look, I was half joking about the PRT thing, just to point out how absurd the things you're saying are. The songs that people claim Kurt wrote were also written by HOLE before Kurt and Courtney got together. I've even heard retards claim that "Drown Soda" was written by Kurt haha.

Can't listen to Hole ever again, so I have no opinion. I dated a girl who eventually got a Hole tattoo on her neck. I've heard, from back to front and from front to back, everything they ever released or didn't release, about a thousand times. That's why I'm politely not commenting about them. I just simply can't listen to them ever again -- so many bad memories attached.

Satan 09.16.2009 01:55 AM

HAHAHA hole tattoo

i almost fucking got the heart with the x when i was a wee little bitch. so glad i didn't.
