When I was between about 12 and 16, I had something like a dozen letters published in the letters to editor pages of Batman, Detective Comics, Green Lantern, and one or two other DC comic book series.

I alternately wish Ogami Itto was my father, and that Daigoro was my son. You know, like, if I was ever forced to have a kid or if the chick was like "Yeah, I thought I was down with abortions before, but I don't know anymore..." and then ruined both of our lives.

This picture is from the second volume.

As a kid, tween and young teen my favorites titles that I barely ever missed an issue of were The Amazing Spider-Man, The Spectacular Spider-Man, The Avengers, Thor, Star Wars, Micronauts, and Godzilla; on the DC side, I was into Detective Comics.

At one time I had a little collection going. I had the Star Wars, Micronauts and Godzilla from the very beginning.

Cool to read about gmku getting his letters published. I always felt like writing, but never did.

The manga obviously predates the TV show and movies, although not all of it. If I remember correctly, the movies were made roughly halfway through the completion of the manga.

I own almost all of the manga (I'm coming close to completing the collection, and each volume is only like $9.95), as I like to physically own the things I love (and support the artists, etc.), but if it's too much of an investment or if you want to preview the manga before purchasing it, you can find the entire thing scanned and hosted here:

Atari, as a kid I never differentiated between the Spiderman titles. I'd see 'Spectacular,' 'The Amazing,' 'Web of,' and just say "Oh, they have different titles. It never even occurred to me back then that it meant anything, or that they were divided in any way.

Savage Clone 09.15.2008 09:39 AM

It's probably worth preservation of virginity.
Which is, of course, priceless.

floatingslowly 09.15.2008 09:47 AM

You'll feel like a huge load has been lifted off your shoulders... and shifted on to your child's therapist's at great cost to yourself and the girl of guns.

Maybe you should just stay in there. She's the best "beard" you could get for sure.

that was too easy. I had considered an "out of the closet" disclaimer, but then I figured it would surely generate some snappy clone comeback.

I'll be sure and tell GG you said she had a beard though! :)
