You'll be amazed krastian.

krastian 04.29.2006 12:32 AM

I'm pumped. There are so many albums I want coming out in the next month or so!

marleypumpkin 04.29.2006 12:44 AM

I know this is off topic, but I have been really impressed by
"A Thousand Leaves". I got it for my birthday, & I hadn't heard all of it until this week. But, I have been amazed at that album.
Oh, & "10,000 Days" as well.

krastian 04.29.2006 12:56 AM

Damn straight. A Thousand Leaves is some serious milk. A lot of people seem not to really like Kim's songs on there, but I love them. I hope I see Sunday on this tour.....I still haven't seen it live.

marleypumpkin 04.29.2006 01:08 AM

Yeah, I'm hoping to see some tracks off this album live. I can't think of one bad song on that album. "The Ineffable Me" I fucking love, "French Tickler", "Heather Angel", etc. & "Karen Koltrane" is absolutely magnificant. & so is "Snare, Girl". I just love this entire album. Oh, & I've heard "10,000 Days" about 10,000 times now, & I still love it.

krastian 04.29.2006 03:44 AM

I finally heard Vicarious. The end of that song is fucking awesome. YES!

luckynumber9 04.29.2006 03:58 AM

Hey Marley, just wondering if you have the vinyl version of A Thousand Leaves. I recently bought a new copy and it has that hissing static-y sound whenever an 's' sound is pronounced in the lyrics. Does your copy do that too, or do you think maybe it's just that my phonograph needle needs cleaning? I haven't really had this problem with any other records recently.

marleypumpkin 04.29.2006 04:41 AM

-krastian-
Wait 'til you hear "Right In Two". that song makes "Vicarious" look like "A Pussies Song", as Kim might say.

-luckynumber9-
No, don't have the vinyl copy. My friend gave me a cd copy of the album.
But, I do know what you are describing about the hissing. I have a bunch of old Stevie Wonder LP's that do the same thing. So, it's most likely something other than the needle.

ozZuB-ginK 05.02.2006 11:58 AM

i just picked up the album today. The packaging is great! it comes with these little lens you look through and it makes all the artwork 3-D. Going through my 1st listen to the record right now, sounding good. Anyone else BUY it today?

Everyneurotic 05.02.2006 12:05 PM

i already burnt the money on the sy ep reissue, i need to pay my new mono album this week also. and if by any chances i have money, i already spotted a couple of albums on the clearance bin of a record store.

so i guess the new tool will have to wait

I bought it today. Their best packaging to date. Great username by the way.

krastian 05.02.2006 03:34 PM

Mine is in the mail as we speak.

terminal pharmacy 05.02.2006 04:47 PM

wings part 1 and 2 are awesome, and vicarious rocks

trainyard bliss 05.02.2006 11:53 PM

i bought it today. i've only heard it once, so i'm intentionally not forming any specific opinions . . . but i definitely liked it.

i realized lately that tool probably has the most consistent reputation as far as how i judge bands that i've listened to. i started getting into music heavily in the 9th grade, and i bought lateralus and aenima sometime in the last third of the year. i've always liked them, and they steadily grew on me. they became my favorite band after 10th grade. since then, i like them basically as much as before, but i've found bands i like more. now, they're near the edge of the ring of favorites below sonic youth and the flaming lips.

i don't think i'll ever really think less of them though. when a band is truly distinctive, and truly excellent at being distinctive, they tend to have lasting impact.

Patrique 05.03.2006 02:49 PM

I've had this for about a week and I'm buying the retail today- first few impressions are that I like it better than Lateralus, at least musically (a lot of Lateralus's lyrics are untouchable to me) and it's just a shade below Aenima. Wings to Marie (part 2) and Right in Two have to be my favorite tracks; Right in Two is definitely one of the band's best ever. The riffs on "Rosetta Stoned" are unbelievable and I love the long intro with the two interludes. For everyone who was underwhelmed by the leak, I suggest another listen; it's an album that grows on you.

And as far as A Thousand Leaves goes, funny you should mention that as I've been listening to it a lot lately. I like most of Kim's tracks, at least musically; some of the lyrics are...ummm..."He's just a kitten!". Sure. The only one I really actively dislike is "The Ineffable Me", although "Heather Angel" would be much better without the pointless break they throw in. I don't think it's really a case of Kim's tracks being bad as they are just not as good- and very stylistically different- from the rest of the album.

marleypumpkin 05.11.2006 03:33 AM

Give props to Adam Jones & Alex Grey for another fantastic world of art to explore while listening to an album. They have definetly set the standard for artwork & packaging for a record. I've already given my personal rating of this album, so I'll just reitterate that my favorite track has to be "Right In Two".
That, & "The Pot"

krastian 05.14.2006 06:23 PM

I can't stop listening to this album.

marleypumpkin 05.14.2006 08:27 PM

You can't eat just 1!

GeneticKiss 05.21.2006 11:22 PM

Okay, I got the album for my birthday and spun it tonight...

And of course, I was not disappointed. My current nominee for Album Of The Year...of course, Rather Ripped hasn't come out yet.

Eyeball Growth, you must have no sense of what's heavy and what ain't if you think it's all straight metal..."Wings For Marie" isn't, neither is "Lipan Conjuring" or "Viginti Tres" (although it is kinda pointless for the most part)...

I wonder what they're gonna pick as the next single? Probably "The Pot", since it's the only song besides "Vicarious" that's relatively compact and straightforward.

I loved the dialogue-style vocals on "Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman)", and "Right In Two" is definitely Tool's best song since "Aenema", with it's cool percussion and electronics, and that little guitar hook that pops up...

youthoftomorrow 05.22.2006 12:07 AM

a friend of mine gave me a burnt copy of 10,000 Days (and Undertow). i love "Vicarious" and "Jambi".

i've never really been a big Tool fan, and i wasn't expecting to like this much, but i fucking love it.

my painting teacher bought it just for the artwork.

marleypumpkin 05.22.2006 12:26 AM

youthoftomorrow:
your art teacher is an inteligent guy. He knows good wrtwork when he see's it.

Genetick Kiss:
I have a copy of "Rather Ripped" if you'd like me to upload it for you.
Anyway, "Right In Two" is the best song off the album, that's a given. & Danny did such a great job on the entire album. I just never tire of hearing it.

terminal pharmacy 05.22.2006 12:32 AM

wings for marie and 10000 days have incredibly beautiful lyrics and of course right in two is awesome

krastian 05.22.2006 12:41 AM

I felt kind of weird listening to the Wings for Marie songs.....pretty personal shit.

youthoftomorrow 05.22.2006 01:47 AM

marley: my art teacher is a woman.

marleypumpkin 05.22.2006 02:18 AM

woops, forgive me. But, yes, she is a very open minded art enthusiast.

youthoftomorrow 05.22.2006 02:27 AM

yeah, she totally rules. that's one of my favorite classes.

i'm fairly confident that she thinks i'm on drugs. although i'm also fairly confident that she has some experience with drugs herself.

Thanks, but I'd rather wait till it comes out and buy it myself...

marleypumpkin 05.23.2006 04:35 PM

Totally overstandable. I'm going to buy it when it comes out as well. The reason I went ahead & got the album was to be prepared for the show I'm going to see June 17th.

marleypumpkin 06.22.2006 06:09 PM

So, I'm listening to a live show of TooL's in 2006. I believe it was 5/13 in Chicago, & I was just wondering if anyone out there wanted me to up it, or send it. Any takers?

krastian 06.22.2006 06:26 PM

How's the quality?

marleypumpkin 06.22.2006 07:40 PM

Pretty good. Definately an audience recording. But, you do get a chuckle or two from what the audience says. Ya' still want it?

Norma J 06.22.2006 07:57 PM

It's a good album, but then, what Tool album isn't. I haven't given it the full attention that it deserves - had lots of other stuff I've been listening to. But it is awesome. And yes, the artwork is indeed great on all levels.

marleypumpkin 06.22.2006 08:29 PM

I just bought "Lateralus" on vinyl the other day, & naturally, it has me thinking what "10,000 Days" will look like on LP. That & "Aenima".

So, does anyone want that live show?

krastian 06.22.2006 10:56 PM

Yeah man I'll give it a wisten. Yousendit?

Of course. Just need the e-mail. You know the drill.

EyeballGrowth 06.23.2006 01:43 AM

I come back on this board today, first time in weeks, and the first thing I see is that the thread about Tool's 10,000 days album is still going and over 100 posts

Why I ask. WHY?

marleypumpkin 06.23.2006 05:09 PM

Because TooL is genius!

It took me a couple of listens to get the essence of the album. Now I can't stop listening to it!

marleypumpkin 07.01.2006 11:35 AM

It does take a little min. to sink in, but once you intake the whole album, artwork included, it starts to have a special meaning.
