Can someone explain what Crepuscule with Pacman by the Intelligence is?

http://www.bornbad.fr/epages/240383....ducts/694-0001

Are they releasing two new albums?

atsonicpark 04.23.2009 04:11 PM

Anyone heard the orbits - i blame you yet? All the Orbits stuff I've heard is awesome. (of course, it's Rick Froberg, has he ever been involved in anything less-than-awesome)

DeadDiscoDildo 04.23.2009 04:16 PM

Baron Von Headless

You mean Obits, right? Like obituaries.

Understandably it's less chaotic than all the other bands but I'm pretty meh about it.

atsonicpark 04.23.2009 04:24 PM

Haha yeah I meant Obits.

I dig what I've heard of the album. Need to listen to the whole thing in one sitting. Obviously, there's nothing as good as "Step On Chameleon" or "Bye Nancy Boy" or something, but I wasn't expecting that. Still some cool 2 guitar shit and Froberg's got an awesome voice as usual. May not make my top 100 but we'll see.

I really enjoy the Night Marchers, John Reis's new band.

Their single makes their lack of a sonic vocabulary painfully evident. Basically sounds like anything off The Body, The Blood, The Machine.

atsonicpark 04.23.2009 04:35 PM

Just got lustmord - the dark places of the earth. Awesome album.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 05.01.2009 04:00 PM

So I'm exploring this stuff and it seems like every other band is minimalist lofi rock. Is that the next big thing or something?

Savage Clone 05.01.2009 04:04 PM

Daughters Of The Sun - "Rings"

Seriously. Excellent.

Yes
Two new Intelligence LPs. Crepuscule With Pacman is actually out now on Born Bad. "Fake Surfers" comes out sometime in the next month or so on In The Red. C.W.P. is good, but the In The Red one is great. Possibly the best Intelligence album yet.

DJ Rick 05.01.2009 04:13 PM

I agree about Fake Surfers being possibly the best yet. In fact, I'm pretty sure it is. It's kinda like if The Intelligence made five more albums and then collected a greatest hits collection, then Fake Surfers would be that greatest hits collection. Every song has a different guitar sound, different vocal sound, drum sound, mood....yet it's plenty cohesive, and the songs hang together well in sequence. Crepuscule With Pacman is worth tracking down if you are a fan of the more home-recorded 4-tracky style of Boredom & Terror. It's very consistent in that style. The songs are all clever as you have come to expect from The Intelligence. AllHands, I featured this album on my blog last week, and Fake Surfers two weeks before...(in case you need a taste)

Savage Clone 05.01.2009 04:27 PM

Mother Of Fire - "LAMBS"

Essential.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 05.01.2009 08:40 PM

I'm really enjoying Skull Defekts.

Is it just me or is 2009 > 2008?

blunderbuss 05.02.2009 12:31 AM

At last an album that I feel deseeves to go in here that hasn't been mentoned already:

Peter Wright - Snow Blind

I haven't actually heard it all yet, but what I have heard is fanfuckingtastic.

PAULYBEE2656 05.02.2009 07:52 AM

yes but excellent! i saw them live two or three weeks ago and they're even better in concert. i felt compelled to buy the cd at the end of the show - i hadn't listened to it before, and i wasn't disappointed.
ECHO!! NO ECHO!! ECHO!! NO ECHO ECHO!!!

PAULYBEE2656 05.02.2009 04:40 PM

also the new as i watch you from a far album (northern irelands answer to explosions in the sky) is damn fucking shit good too.....

SYRFox 05.02.2009 04:52 PM

I'll check that

The Giuseppe Ielasi album, "Aix", is fucking good (glitchy stuff). So is the new Pterodactyl.

If they're an answer to EITS shouldn't they be called "A Punch in the Face" ? Because that's what EITS deserves.

atsonicpark 05.02.2009 05:51 PM

Wow, hey syrfox, I love Giuseppe Ielasi. Didn't know anyone else was a fan.

SuperCreep 05.02.2009 05:54 PM

C93's latest is awesome. I'm really enjoying the new "stoner" rock/psych direction.

Oh, and Sasha Grey is on it, which is pretty odd. Ah well, at least it isn't Antony!

I can't say I'm a fan, as I only know this album, I haven't heard his older works - yet. But I sure really enjoy this one

I'm listening to their first album right now and it sounds very Spacemen 3ish.

noisereductions 05.02.2009 08:51 PM

I just got Bonny Prince Billy's BEWARE, and for the most part, I think it's really good.

batreleaser 05.03.2009 12:05 PM

mi ami really is fucking phenomenal. there are very few noise rock bands whove referenced a world music sound and pulled it off with amazing results, sun city girls, and mi ami. about one million times better than black eyes was, even though black eyes was pretty good.

They've expanded their lineup and their sound in the meantime. Lots of interlocking percussion, but the basic blissout aesthetic isstill there. DoTS are a kind of rare exception for me, as their music really works in the major keys a lot and doesn't have much "darkness" to speak of at all, and yet maintains a saturated psychedelic vibe that is thoroughly enjoyable. I think these factors could ultimately make them a pretty popular act nationwide. Their music is both good and somewhat radio-friendly, which is a rarity indeed.

batreleaser 05.03.2009 03:37 PM

ajilvsga-blue crow is a headscratcher in the best possible way. nathan young, head of digitalis recordings, duo, really ominous and heady fucking psyhedelic noise/drone, really easy and great to get lost to. id take this over the absurd amount of not not fun drone casettes any day. tropical drone or whatever they wanna describe it, not a good musical idea if you ask me. i did enjoy that sun araw beach head lp though.

SYRFox 05.03.2009 03:53 PM

the new pterodactyl is REALLY fantastic

atsonicpark 05.03.2009 05:52 PM

Yeah, I listed ajilvsga's white crow in mine. Didn't realize blue crow was out though. May replace my entry with "black mouth society", simply because it's longer. More is better. Look for a Robe./Ajilvsga split out by the end of the year on Peyote Tapes. Also got some other splits in the works but they're pretty secret for now...

Toxa 05.03.2009 06:20 PM

now I have tons to listen -- thanks for this thread guys!

by the way, latest Alan Licht release is very, very good.
