haha, idiots.

the wire review was pretty good. and even pfork's, because it's richardson.

they rated them too lowly though. this is seriously 9.7-10 material

Rob Instigator 02.23.2010 01:24 PM

this shit is watering down our rage

davenotdead 02.23.2010 01:26 PM

yeah, i'm sorry its not cool/hard enough for u guys. it's about 1000X better than the Eternal though. just, you know, doesn't have guitar solos. aw shux

Rob Instigator 02.23.2010 05:35 PM

I like soft shit sometimes. that's not what sux about newsom to me. it is the actual sound of her music, the actual sound of her voice, and her inflections and her ridiculous stupid musical persona.

her and the fucking Fleet Foxes.

SuperCreep 02.23.2010 05:56 PM

she sounds like a bleating goat to me.

Ever so slightly related to what you have said above....after today, I honestly don't think I'll ever be able to listen to Ys again....and I LIKED it!

But she clearly left that world behind.

Rob, have you actually listened to any of HOOM?

Regardless of whether or not I disagree, everything you've said in this thread is fucking fantastic. I'm just way too gay to listen to Pantera. I prefer cutesy harp tunes.

Oh, fuck!!!! New Tori Amos???? WHen?

Glice 02.23.2010 07:01 PM

I heard there wasn't much shredding on this record.

HaydenAsche 02.23.2010 09:28 PM

I just listened to the first and second disc. Hmm. So far very disappointed. Hopefully, it will redeem itself. Does it seem shiny to anyone else? It might just be new production making me unfamiliar.

davenotdead 02.23.2010 09:55 PM

hayden, not sure what u mean by 'shiny' ... but i haven't heard anyone else describe it as that.

HaydenAsche 02.24.2010 01:28 AM

I'll try and explain myself. I thought Milk-Eyed Mender was fantastic because it was a beautiful album yet there were obvious flaws. The album seemed raw. Listening to it I pictured Joanna Newsom playing harp in a wood shack on some farm miles and miles from industrialized cities.

After listening to all of them, I don't think it's necessarily a 'bad' thing. Just something for me to get used to. The new album is clean and smooth. Not as many overly-obnoxious notes, which to me are like landmarks throughout the story. Her voice seems less 'stressed' to me.

I've been really baked the entire time, though.

atsonicpark 02.24.2010 04:42 AM

I'd like to put one cumshot on her face. Can you imagine her licking your balls, bent over doggy style, while you're standing up and jerking off, with her big ass kicked up in the air? She could be laying on her harp and while she's rhythmically moving back and forth and kicking her ass up and down like she's being fucked from behind while licking your sweaty sac, discordant harp sounds protrude from under her naked body. Finally, in her sweet, super high pitched voice, she says "I want to have one on me." And then I "arrive" all over her, putting the most massive load to ever exist all over her sweet, sweet face.

...

Though, I think the title actually refers to "hey, go ahead and download this album, it's free -- have one on me! It's not very good anyway." And, sure enough! It's an overlong, overly slick, obnoxious, boring album where the good moments get lost in a big muck. Enjoy! I guess this album isn't meant to be listened to in one sitting, right? There's no way. This is one of the most tiring albums I've ever heard. I'd rather listen to St. Anger and Chinese Democracy back to back.

Overall rating: Better than most of the garbage out there, but not that great/100.

and later, as she regains her composure and starts plucking her harp, droplets of cum lying dormant on the strings flick off, gently splatting against her face.

fin.

atsonicpark 02.24.2010 05:49 AM

Sounds beautiful!

Skuj 02.24.2010 10:21 AM

atsonic, it used to be about the music, Dude......

This thread isn't cool. It's embarrassing actually, not worthy of SY Gossip.

ni'k 02.24.2010 10:59 AM

you've changed man, it used to be about the music.

SLAG OFF!

lol.

is there not room in the world for music and cumshots? must we draw some sort of line between the two?

and the line -

priceless.

atsonicpark 02.24.2010 11:36 AM

Haha. This board is a joke, as is the whole internet, and 90% of this board doesn't like Newsom, or know who she is, or care about her existance. So, it's no surprise that a thread that starts with pictures of her hot ass would end with stories about her drinking man juice.

Either way, I actually don't mind her music for the most part, but this album is a bloated, tired mess.

Rob Instigator 02.24.2010 01:41 PM

imagine a co-headlining world tour of Joanna Newsom and Regina Spektor.

Holy fuck would there be boundless jailbait at the shows. . . what a sin

It would be like Kids of Whitney High but not.

why can't tori read?

well there's a very good reason as to her voice changing.

Newsom developed vocal cord nodes in spring 2009, and all that came out when she opened her mouth “was like the hiss on opening a Coke can”.... On recovering, she mourned when she realised that her old voice was never coming back, though she says she must give “full disclosure” and admit that further vocal modifications have been deliberate.

She wasn't allowed to speak or cry for 2 months.

well you're a NYC guy, go seek out Andy Samberg and ask if Joanna's improved after her ordeal.

Skuj 02.24.2010 03:30 PM

So, how about that HOOM then?

atsonicpark 02.24.2010 04:14 PM

A girl going 2 months without crying? That has to be a lie.

Skuj 02.24.2010 04:42 PM

I'm no prude, and I love a good laugh, but HOW did this thread become such an embarrassment? This isn't the level of SY Gossip that I am used to.

davenotdead 02.24.2010 04:43 PM

you haven't been here long enough, dude

atsonicpark 02.24.2010 04:44 PM

This thread actually has more actual musical discussion than probably any other thread on the whole board aside from perhaps the Sun City Girls thread.

atsonicpark 02.24.2010 06:17 PM

Joanna Newsom reminds me of the type of girl who likes dudes to shit on her chest.

this album is good, but her other material is alot better. this seems like it's lacking intensity to me, which was abundant in her other work

i'm getting a trace of nick drake vibe from this one,and also.....this is a weird fucking comparison and i'm probably way off but.....minnie riperton

i think there's a few tracks that are like 6-8 minutes long, which are boring until the last 2 minutes when they get awesome. i love a good climax but it would be nice if the rest of the track was almost as interesting.

i don't think the album length is an issue, i would probably be harder on it if it were short and appreciate that she gave us a larger volume of music. but if the best 60 mins was made into a single album.....it still wouldn't be as good as her other albums

Skuj 02.26.2010 12:09 AM

My feeling about it is quite opposite to wellcharges;

I will never be able to listen to the claustraphobic Ys ever again. HOOM breathes, takes it's time, has a coffee and cigarette....

This has simmering quiet intensity.....an intensity that sneaks up on you, rather than batting you over the head. (Ys)

BUT....I've only listened to disc 1. :) I plan to hear each disc many times before moving to the next disc.

Still, disc 1 alone is a revelation to me. Far more mature, honest and personal than Ys.

davenotdead 02.26.2010 03:05 AM

got dang.

dat ass

atsonicpark 02.26.2010 07:28 AM
