All of my CD's, vinyl, DVD's, cassettes, CD-R's, VHS and V-CD's are catalogued on Rate Your Music. I have rated all but about 60 or 70 items...I think I have about 1438 music-related items.

only about 7 of my haino records would be tricky to replace i think. but replacing them would be a total bitch, i'd have to spend my life trawling ebay.

Fuck no. Mine used to be in alphabetical order but that went out of the window about 3 house moves ago. My current system is basically what I am listening to at the moment in big piles on my desk, some stuff in a cd wallet case thing, some in a big plastic box and the rest (mostly cdrs in thin slipcases) in shoeboxes.
|
i have 1300 or so alphabetised in ringbinders in my house, and another couple of hundred older things that i don't listen to anymore in a cupboard at my mum's house. i don't have space for 1500 CD cases in my house.

Though about doing it only I'm too lazy and disorganized.
My grandparents have all their movies listed in this catalog type thing, organized by genre. They're all movies they've taped off TV over the years too, which sucks because you can't buy tapes like anywhere anymore. |
i sure as hell do!!!
i don't ever want to find myself in a situation where i go "didn't i have this record already?" i value that shit so much, i would hate me if i lose any tape or cd-r, let alone vinyl. and it's not for the collector's value, i don't like collecting ugly stamps just because they are on a limited run. but my shelves are fucked, bands and related are together and in chronological order, but they are just randomly there. |

i can't imagine imagine i'd ever accidentally buy a record twice, if that's what you mean. |
basically since i file records all day 6 days a week (tomorrow's my day off, thank god) and i have so many i can't be assed to do such tedious work.

i meant it as losing a record, losing sight of it and not being able to find it when i know i had bought it. |

if it's on colored vinyl i will buy every color they pressed. otherwise, no.

ive got a sql database next. |
just a word .doc file
|
i have a .txt.
|
I might do that...
|
mines on a sql server, which owns all your ghetto asses
but i have to keep inventory for my mailorder... stock is low now but i just ordered about 300 dollars worth of shit. |
i have a large excel file for my mp3s...which contain all my cds, and other, er, stuff. i don't have a catalog of my vinyl or tape-only releases.
|
i keep all mine listed and always updating for insurance purposes, have my collection insured seperately
|
My LP collection is somewhat alphabetized and my CD collection is onlly organized by artist. I'll probably clean it up properly after I move.
