Maybe not always, but a lot of people have been able to retain they'r integrity while living a rock and roll lifestyle. It just vanishes from most people, but those people never really had integrity to begin with.

I never made the claim that The Edge was a derivative of The Smiths. I just said that anyone can make any claim that they want. I was merely supporting K-krak in his/her statement that the Edge sucks.

U2 suck now. But in their prime (which has LONG since past), they had an original sound...sure they were mainstream (as if that's some sort of measure of how good a band is), but they were the exception, not the rule. Simple Minds and the Alarm mgith have thought they were in the same league, but they weren't.

If I someone bolted a set of headphones to my ears and forced me to listen to a U2 album over and over for the rest of my life, I'd rather it be The Joshua Tree.
