One of the reasons the original series was so great was because the actors were unknown or were well regarded Hollywood types but not household names, so that the story is what mattered, not that Eddie Vedder makes an appearance. This celebrity list makes me doubt.

Same. I still haven't seen a minute of American Gods either. This has been the case for a lot of Twin Peaks fans I know.

A friend of mine from work was really pumped about it and does happen to have Showtime. He said it was really fucking weird, even for Twin Peaks. Virtually impossible to know what's happening. Several plot lines going on at once. So, that's all I know.

I hear this new... incarnation... of TP is a stark contrast to the wonderfully absurd original series, which as y'all know sprinkled its extreme darkness with extreme campiness.

From what I can gather, this is just, like, SUPER fucking dark. More akin to Lynch's films. Horror, straight up.

Which is exciting AF.

Yeah, you've really gotta rewatch FWWM he's not pandering to any newbies on this. It's so dark in places. Seriously, the guy does better horror with a lot less than 99% of the horror films around these days.

No Showtime here either. But I mean NO Showtime, as in there's no such a thing as a "Showtime channel" where I live. Plenty of their programs, however, have found their way into other channels: The L Word was on Warner, Dexter on FX and Brotherhood... somewhere else; I can't remember at the moment (boy was that a great show, though). Having said that, Twin Peaks: The Return is nowhere to be found so :fuckyou: Showtime, you force me to dive into the unofficial channels...

I'm so pissed that I can't get American Gods. I even have an HBO GO account that I get because I split Dish Network payments with my girlfriend's mom. But for some reason I can't access STARZ or Showtime.

I've seriously been waiting for an American Gods adaptation since I was... well, basically an entirely different person. A cool young guy with minimal cantakerousness and zero apocalyptic pessimism. An HERE IT IS, just out of my cocksucking reach!!!! Blast it! Blast YOU Nail Gaiman! Blast you, premium TV that isn't HBO!!! Fucking fuck! Just put your shit on HBO like a normal Fucking asshole!!! Nobody watches those other ones! I didn't even know STARZ still existed until I read that my most anticipated literary adaptation was going to be on it.
