a lot of people shit on sightings, i thought they were gonna be early magik markers no wave wannabe what the fuck is a melody noise core shit, but no, theyre not bad, pretty good. |
Sightings are awesome. Ditto Vampire Belt.
|
I'll second a couple and add a few more...
(early) Royal Trux Blues Control (although they get kind space-y, even new wave-y but somehow in a good way. One of my favourite bands in the world) The Frantix (Cool Flipper-esque punk band from Colorado in the early 80's) Wasted Truth (Melbourne band doing this really cool Flipper/No Trend type thing) Slugfuckers (Early 80's band from Australia) |
Bailterspace and their previous incarnation, The Gordons. I don't know if they're really noise rock, they're pretty melodic, but a great band nonetheless.

I'm not such a huge fan of their last record. I prefer End Times personally. Been meaning to check out Bailter Space forever. Have heard one beautifully stoned track on Dope Gunz Fucking'n' the Streets volume ?i don't remember?
|
The easiest of Bailterspace's albums to get is their self-titled best of, which is great. You should also get "First Album and Future Shock EP" by The Gordons. The Gordons were more "rock", while Bailterspace were more "shoegazey".

motorhead DO count!

sightings are okay. "Arrived in Gold" was alright.

"sexy pee story" is my fav cows.
Essential 5 from that list? Let's see, probably Pink and Brown, Halo of Flies, Mount Shasta, Cutthroats 9, and the Savage Republic in my opinion. |
cheers!

ive said ot before, but royal trux-twin infinitives is a perfect album. it totally acheives what its trying to do, with the lo fi rock n roll stripped of melody and tones, and they way they had like four songs per track, so they sorta roll into eachothermaking it so you never get a break, and those awesome vocals, and the noisisssiieeeiieie, my favorite album by one of my longtime favorite bands.
