Modern Emo: The Smashing Fucking Pumpkins
Old School: Hardcore punk bands like Husker Du.

I hate calling Husker Du emo. They aren't, but they influenced emo and are hence the origin.

400 posts :)

Are those 6 songs:
Indecision time
Pride
I will never forget you
Broken home, Broken Heart
The Biggest Lie
Beyond the Threshold?

I love all those songs and hate emo.

Fuck I love Zen Arcade, New Day Rising is better, but Zen Arcade is more varied in sound. Only a few songs I skip on Zen arcade. I gotta buy their first album...

indecision time
i will never forget you
beyond the threshold

incorporate elements of thrash if anything.

but those other three are emo with Pride having the distinction of being the first hardcore emo song. it has octave chords :)
