Hey thanks for posting the recording - we recorded most of these shows ourselves but always good to have others as well. I wasn't very satisfied w that version of Karenology but wanted to shake my setlist up a bit after 2 weeks or so on the road and thought I'd give it a try - orig plan was to put some acoustic versions of a few SY songs into the mix but it just didn't happen this trip, maybe next time...

Here's a cool-looking time-exposure photo taken at my gig in Dublin on Oct 24th by photog Hugh McCabe - the exposure was the length of one song, I believe. He's got a cool blog...:

Fair enough, but I feel I understand the song a little better as a composition after having heard this version, especially the noisy bit's relationship to the main riff.

Great vocal performance.

The few times Lee, Thurston and sometimes Jim did acoustic live radio sessions during Sonic Youth tours are some of my favorite Sonic bootleg/outtake material. The second Bridge School set was cool too. A SY acoustic compilation would be a cool SYR release in my mind.

Sidebar: Lee's field recordings in Morocco is a dream SYR release, maybe co-released with Smithsonian Folkways or Sublime Frequencies. Would fulfill a stated goal of releasing an SYR in Arabic (recalling an interview with Lee by memory, source unknown).

Did Wire's "Mannequin" get played at any of the shows? I heard it being soundchecked at Café Oto, and was excited at the thought of hearing it properly, but it didn't make the final set.

I love fIREHOSE's version of Mannequin on the Live Totem Pole EP

I think it got played out once, sorta spontaneously, in Nantes on Hallowe'en...
