"Dinner Bell", an instrumental track by Thurston Moore (electric guitar), Devin Brahja Waldman (Tambourine and alto saxophone), Ambrose Bye (Test set tone generator), and Eva Prinz (whistle). Judging by Fast Speaking Music's description on Bandcamp, this should end up included in Taping Policies' forthcoming cassette tape, "Oasis at Briska":

A cover of Patti Smith's "Ghost Dance" by Thurston Moore, Ambrose Bye, and Anne Waldman lives now on Bandcamp as well and can be downloaded in any digital format of your choice for a buck:

I love bandcamp. (a) it allows artists to put out their music directly, often streaming for free with available downloads for purchase and (b) it totally cuts out the record industry middlemen. Fuck that. Bandcamp is like a combination of mid-2000s MySpace and Radiohead's W.A.S.T.E. site...

Bought 'em both - many thanks for the links! ![]() I'm not sure I'm crazy about the "artwork" pic for "Dinner Bell", though. I mean, those are some fat motherfuckers over there in the States. I'm not sayin' - I'm just sayin'. ![]() |

http://www.volcanictongue.com/labels/show/2192 Thurston Moore/Jean-Marc Montera/Lee Ranaldo Les Anges Du Peche Dysmusie DYSLP-1 LP £17.99 Beautiful three-way guitar album that sees Thurston and Lee of Sonic Youth in complete communion with the great French avant guitarist and improviser Jean-Marc Montera: two sides, two duos, with the first set featuring Ranaldo and Montera and the second Moore and Montera. The Ranaldo side is an absolute stunner, re-formulating decades of string think into a sound so beautiful it feels exactly like that Lester Bangs line about how the intro to “All Tomorrow’s Parties” sounds the sunlight climbing red brick tenement walls in New York in the early morning. The duo flit between almost Evol levels of abstract string drone and roaring aformal excess to the kind of heartbroken slow-motion lyricism of a Loren Connors. The Thurston side gets a little more barefoot in the head, with Montera ripping through the kind of bastardised blues licks of contemporary Fushitsusha while Moore uses the guitar as an electric lightning rod, w/levels of string dunt that are pure Red Transistor. Totally fantastic, one of the best ‘free’ Sonic Youth off-shoots and a great showcase of Montera’s advanced string-thought. Comes in gorgeous gatefold sleeves with great extensive sleevenotes and detective work by Philippe Robert. Highly recommended! |
