Geddy Lee = rush. And they had some good stuff--permanent waves and whatever came after that.

Les Claypool's encore was Spirit of Radio. Weird to hear it in such a low voice.

Great list.

I want to make a special note of Minus the Bear here.. if they were faster and didn't have that awful singer, they'd be incredible. I mean, some of the guitar interplay IS topnotch, but let's face it.. Maps and Atlases does the tapping shit better, and Minus the Bear were just a Pele ripoff to begin with.

But somehow I donīt find HipHop the elements, that make music important to me. Because in HipHop there is no singing, itīs talking, I feel that there is also not that much expression in it. Only "talking singing" that catches me is on the early Red Hot Chili Peppers records. Also background is in many HipHop songs a borrowed loop, that go on again and again. I feel that there is not so much creativity in HipHop as there is in other music genres. I need music, that take me somewhere else. I feel HipHop elements are there, what is happening right now. I think the lyrics are much more important in HipHop than music and to me the music has always been important than music. I havenīt got acquinted in HipHop, I have only heard some songs from the radio and from my friends, so there is not much value about my opinions. But I believe, that even I listen the whole HipHop album, my opinion will not change. Of course you can suggest me some good album.

oops my bad thanks for the correction. So it's Rush that I can't stand but I never cared for Styx/Tommy Shaw either? Mr, Roboto is as bad as a rock song can be.

The Smiths, for damned sure.

Same goes for U2.

i caught a bit of a minus the bear performance on TV last week and was thoroughly confused as to what people see in them. they sounded like a fucking proggy version of 3 doors down. i think mark prindle gave one of their albums a ten too.

Speaking of......one could never go wrong with Rez Band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOmXWQ-w9nU

There was an English band called Gang of Four who released a single titled "To Hell With Poverty!"

That has absolutely nothing to do with anything. That's like randomly saying "ugh, this one time at school the fat lunch lady gave me some extra mashed potatoes".

I'm confused, KIS.

while I can completely and whole-heartedly agree with NOT and NEVER listening to the Smiths (Dr Felikson, you shoulda run for Governor of CA, Smiths fans is a leading cause of depression and drama-queenism amongs 15-30 years latinos from the burbs to the hood, and it has their grandma's in the Church counting rosaries over their sons wearing eye make-up..)

I must also admit that two of my all time, favorite, soul touching songs were by Foo Fighters (everlong) and 311 (amber) and they are full-fledged guilty pleasures.. oh yeah, and with country, current and contemporary country music indeed sucks, but the Deadhead in me found a liking to mid-50s country, some of it is actually pretty fucking cool.

They're similar song titles, and it wouldn't surprise me to learn that "Stryper" was influenced by the title of Gang of Four's magnum opus. And Stryper is a shit name for a band.

Deerhoof (I don't get what the fuss is about, I just think it's "collage" at its worst...).

This thread has too much undeserved Minus The Bear hate. I've heard other math rock groups but I still think they're awesome. Some of their melodies just hit me in the right place.
