Which is the last thing they need right now.

i think salaries should be stated per year so people can compare to annual revenues

here’s wikipedia:

Player wages

There is no team or individual salary cap in the Premier League. As a result of the increasingly lucrative television deals, player wages rose sharply following the formation of the Premier League when the average player wage was £75,000 per year.[175] In the 2018–19 season the average annual salary stood at £2.99 million.

The total salary bill for the 20 Premier League clubs in the 2018–19 was £1.62bn, this compares to £1.05bn in La Liga, £0.83bn in Serie A, £0.72bn in Bundesliga, and £0.54bn in Ligue 1. The club with the highest average wages is Manchester United at £6.5m. This is smaller than the club with the highest wage bill in Spain (Barcelona £10.5m), and Italy (Juventus £6.7m), but higher than in Germany (Bayern Munich £6.4m), and France (Paris St Germain 6.1m).

Th ratio of the wages of the highest paid team to lowest paid in the Premier League is 6.82 to 1. This is much lower than in La Liga (19.1 to 1), Serie A (16 to 1), Bundesliga (20.5 to 1), and Ligue 1 (26.6 to 1). Because of the lower differential between team wage bills in the Premier League, it is often regarded as being more competitive than other top European leagues.[176]

so your average player counting even the benchers at cardiff is 3 million pounds.

is bat-macumba worth 2.5 your AVERAGE league player.

oh i should stop speculating and go read what actually happened

chelsea refused him to spurs and he went to crystal palace!

does it burn, you guys? or is it more like “good riddance”? sour grapes or legit?

who did you get in the end?

demonrail666 01.31.2019 10:50 PM

I don't regret him going to Palace. The club doesn't need another over-payed striker when the priority has been strengthening n defence (we've needed a defensive midfielder for bloody years). So I'm pissed that the window has been wasted trying to sort out the Arnie situation when there are other areas that desperately need sorting out (and Batshuayi was just another distraction from that) but even if we were desperate for a striker, his wages were just silly given his poor record in the Prem. I'm surprised Palace have taken him, tbh.

!@#$%! 01.31.2019 11:19 PM

oh i see. yes. zabaleta is great but not getting any younger. i see...

so you got nobody? shiiiiiiiiiiiiiittt...

and artie now injured again? fuck...

(i would have sold him immediately, like i said pages back)

yeah whoever is in charge of hiring at west ham... i don't know... probably not a genius

demonrail666 02.01.2019 12:13 AM

On reflection I wish he'd gone, too. He's an excellent player but we were in for Maxi Gomez and that fell through when he stayed. Our most important player now is Declan Rice and our most creative one is still Lanzini - even though he's out for the season. We're not in a relegation battle for a change so I see the next few months as just getting through this barren patch as best we can. Then hopefully Pellegrini gets the money to push forward next season, by which time Lanzini should be back, Arnie will probably be gone and some of the dead weight will have hopefully followed him.

!@#$%! 02.01.2019 12:34 AM

i was gonna ask “lanzini?” and realized ive never seen him cuz heks been out all season.

o man rough times.saw the score v wolves earlier and felt bad for you.

demonrail666 02.01.2019 08:08 AM

Blimey, this is a dream compared with previous seasons. Remember last year, the big protests against the owners? The whole new stadium debacle? Fans literally fighting with players on the pitch? The genuine fears that the club might go under? The whole "Big Sam" thing? Compared with that this looks like not that bad a season.

Anyway. enough of all that. Some big games at the weekend: West Ham v Liverpool will be a behind the sofa job for me but lots of big teams will be coming back from some pretty bad results last week so it could be a very interesting next few days for the likes of Man City and especially Chelsea/Sarri.

!@#$%! 02.01.2019 09:21 AM

oh yes hahaha. i had forgotten cuz i never witnessed it.

this weekend i’d like to see everton wolves but not sure what they’ll show cuz it’s the crowded timeslot

lester man u should be good, man city arsenal might be a small massacre, west ham liverpool i will avert my eyes.

there is something weird with the everton calendar. playing man city on date 28 ahead of date 26 wat. this league confuses me...

demonrail666 02.01.2019 01:16 PM

The Everton v MC game was meant to happen in a couple of weeks time but cos MC have a cup game that weekend, they've brought it forward.

h8kurdt 02.02.2019 05:51 AM

Just read this morning that Wilshire might be out for the rest of the season because of an ankle problem. I'd actually forgotten he was even at West Ham!

demonrail666 02.02.2019 09:17 AM

I'd pretty much forgotten about him too. Sooner his contract runs out the better.

Nah, they showed the Shalke game.

Well as predicted Everton got beat and at my predicted 3-1. However, the best news is a cat turned up! Brilliant commentary on the game below

So I didn't see the game but it sounds like typical West Ham. Capitulate against teams they have a fighting chance against then raise their game against the likes the Liverpool so they can celebrate a point. Nice, but frustrating at the same time.

!@#$%! 02.06.2019 05:02 PM

liverpool now under pressure to win and win big

!@#$%! 02.07.2019 02:27 PM

ft copypasta:

Liverpool has posted the largest annual profit ever recorded by a football club, after a stellar run to the Champions League final and blockbuster player sales provided an unexpected boost to its financial performance.

Revenue at the English Premier League side, currently mounting a strong challenge to win its first league title in 29 years, was £455m in the year to May 31 2018, a period that covers last season.

Liverpool also made a pre-tax profit of £125m, up £85m from a year earlier.

The figure beats the £92.5m profit achieved by Leicester City in 2016/17, the season the Midlands club played in the Champions League, European football’s most prestigious competition, following its unlikely Premier League victory in 2016.

Liverpool has closed the gap on the sport’s financial elite, which includes Spain’s Real Madrid and Barcelona, England’s Manchester United and Germany’s Bayern Munich. However, each of those clubs still made at least £100m more in revenues than Liverpool last season, according to figures collated by Deloitte, the consultancy.

“What we have seen is a stable and sustained improvement in the club’s financial position over recent years,” said Andy Hughes, Liverpool’s chief operating officer.

Liverpool’s run to the Champions League final last May, when it was defeated by Real Madrid, provided extra income from broadcasters, ticketing and prize money.

Media revenues were £220m, up by £66m from a year earlier. Commercial revenues, such as from sponsorship contracts, were £154m, an increase of £17m. Match day revenues also increased to £81m, up £7m.

Over its financial year, Liverpool made a £124m profit in player trading, in part through the sale of Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for a reported £142m. In most transfers, fees are paid in instalments, meaning income from the Coutinho transfer will probably be realised over a number of years.

I reckon the MU board are now desperate for Solksjaer to slip-up so they can justify replacing him in the summer.
