a bit more detail would be pop music with freejazz, modern classical, and some prog elements. I play most of the guitars, wurlitzers, pianos, vox, but there are 24 other folks on our record, and it is a 5-piece lineup - guitars, bari/sop sax, bass, drums. free dwnld of the record on the site above, but it is also on white and black vinyl and cdr.

very nice write ups DDD. I take it from the pictures you were the guy with the guitar and the beard.

My hats off to all of you who play, write or sing tunes as me I'm tone deaf.

markge 02.10.2010 11:55 PM

Antagon, that track on youtube is off the hook!

shameless self promotion here: Myspace.com/GargoyleT

I've uploaded a whole lot of new tracks since the beginning...

markge 02.10.2010 11:59 PM

oh yeah the songs are all written by me, and played by me except for one of them where my friend helped play drums on and recorded.

I would say check out the site, it's worth it, but mainly sounds like rock, can't really describe it better than that. definitely underground/avant-garde/electronic with a mainstream focus. There I just described it better.

markge 02.11.2010 12:02 AM

here's a website i would recommend too for artists who are trying to find other cool shit to get into: http://ihatemusic.noquam.com

I play drums in a band called FUR. You can download our EP for free at our website, FURNOISE

Insignificant 03.28.2010 09:12 PM

I've already, quite long ago, mentioned my band, the almighty Autosuggestion. Long story short, we're from Cheltenham, Pennsylvania (a stone's throw from Philadelphia), we've been kicking around since about 2007, and we play fairly strange, fairly interesting music. For the curious, we have a rather rudimentary Bandcamp page and a somewhat disappointing Myspace page; I'd go to the former first, if only because of our lovely little single, which you can download for free at your leisure... Note, however, that it's not entirely representative of our music; we all like a good multi-part epic dirge or shambling sub-Pixies screech-drone just as much as the next man (and more). But so far, our recordings of such material are more than a little primitive in contrast, so Lightning Bolt-meets-Nurse With Wound it is!

Oh, yes, and not to forget the company blog, so far perhaps the least updated, least significant web-artifact ever (soon, though, soon...), or the truly frightful (yet surprisingly informative) Facebook page....

On a related note, we have a sibling band of sorts called the Exclamatories. They're basically a psychedelic jam band, with smatterings of Parliament and Miles Davis thrown in for good measure. We share a drummer, and occasionally a bassist or two.

Nice!

My band live a few months ago at this small art gallery downtown...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6xRtU5fLcU

& we just got awarded "Best use of reverb" in the local paper Best of Cincinnati 2010.

Best Use of Reverb:
THE HARLEQUINS. Nine out of 10 times, reverb can ruin a guitar solo. If you hate it, wait until you hear this trio, which has a sound so big Fountain Square can barely contain them. Sweet crooning over reverb-drenched Rock makes you blackout and wake up in a paisley wonderland. These guys play music that you’ll wish was it’s own genre so you could hear even more of it.

ok so I checked it out! good stuff, for better or worse, you kinda sound identical to Kim but that's probably what you're going for.

what I'm really saying is, your voice is damn sexy

Thanks. I definitely don't want to sound identical to Kim, but "you are what you eat", I guess. We recorded those a while ago, and I didn't know how I should sing, so I just went for a simple, soft sound. But, we are going to re-record those, and add some others in the next two weeks, and at this point, I'm hoping it will sound much less like KG.

I noticed you're playing some shows in the coming weeks...Come tour in Canada!
