Yeah, but the DOD is way more subtle and more overdriven than than distorted . It can also boost, which the Dist + can't, Dist + is wimpy and gay

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.08.2007 10:56 AM

You're right it is the same circuit with different values, I really like the 250 a lot better though. The distortion on the distortion + sounded weak, the 250 sounded a lot smoother and had that nice tubey crunch to it.

...and I'm sure you've compared the two side by side?

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.08.2007 01:08 PM

I did, and I agree with King Buzzo actually. Except the gay part, the DOD-250 has a more abnormal sexual preference because it takes 1/8" for power rather than a barrel.

See, that's what I was thinkin'. Prejudice against the sexual preferences of guitar pedals is runnin' rampant these days.

Get the rat first. After having more dirt pedals and then adding the bb it is gonna be way more fun to fuck around like that.

I can tell you that that site is not available.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.09.2007 10:17 AM

When I got the DOD 250 the other day, I was gonna try out a used RAT for 45, but someone put a hold on it.

MellySingsDoom 04.09.2007 10:28 AM

Anyone one here got the Vintage Rat? A great and versatile little beast. Shame I sold mine all those years ago.

soapbars 04.09.2007 11:53 AM

ive got a vintage rat,

its a dream come true like,

MellySingsDoom 04.09.2007 11:56 AM

They're great, aren't they? Probably the most "natural" distortion unit I've personally used. I've never tried any of those tube distortion pedals - wonder what they're like?

scott v 04.09.2007 12:06 PM

I've got what think is an 80's model of a RAT, which is alot better than the newer reissues, i have one as a backup and i can't dial in the tone that comes close to the vintage, which is a shame... there must be a difference w/ the transistors.. etc etc, or cheap parts or something...

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.09.2007 10:21 PM

Electro-Harmonix is fully aware of what Behringer is doing, and I don't really think that they are the sort of company to throw a lot of big lawyers and money around. One of their top designers made a prototype "clone" of the Memory Man rip-off and dubbed it the Memory Babe.

I think they know that behringer stuff is a bunch of lamely built BS that doesn't sound as good as the real thing and has a crappy bypass.

heavium 04.10.2007 08:50 AM

ordered the tech21 sapbddi yesterday, picking up a secondhand boss line selector tomorrow (loop/clean blend usage)

so here's the rest of my wishlist to complete my pedalboard with:

-a natural sounding flanger, the dod flanger (white box) is cheap but i can't find sound samples, electric mistress is nice but huge and i don't want to spend that much on a huge ass flanger...

- a delay, simple delay below €100, small, just for basic delay stuff

-a replacement for my dano pepperoni phaser, someting that works better with bass...must be capable of doing extreme swooshy phaser sounds

-a very responsive envelope filter/auto-wah, considered a dr.Q first but it's not very agressive/over the top..so i heard, can't find the guyatone bottom wah rocker, i don't need the 'drive' option on the micro Qtron..., digitech envelope synth wah seems cool but again..it's a digitech.. and it's a synth ..thing..heh

-a pedal that can add one or two octaves UP instead of down (bass)..thinking about the digitech whammy actually... seriously..i'm not kidding..it can do a lot, but it's too exspensive for a digitech ..or am i wrong ?

anyone here that owns one of the boxes i mentioned, give me some feedback, tips are more than welcome, i'm in no rush... i just don't want to buy and sell over and over again because i'm lazy like that, by next year i'd like to be able to say 'yeah, this is just about it' ;-)

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.10.2007 09:43 AM

Heavium:
MXR Flanger, Danelectro PB+J or Ibanez DE-7, not sure on a good phaser or envelope filter for bass- most of the sweep ranges are done for guitar.

Danny Himself 04.10.2007 10:32 AM

I have a behringer tremolo and behringer wah. They were super cheap and sound fine to me.

Is £180 too much to pay for a Fender Duo-Sonic?

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.10.2007 10:38 AM

Ummmm, No. sounds like a good price.

Danny Himself 04.10.2007 10:56 AM

I may go for it. Tis red.
