Request: New Board picture, chout

Savage Clone 04.06.2007 04:44 PM

My bandmate gave me one of these recently to run my guitar through and use for whatever other purposes I like:

Kegmama:
There is a "regular" Big Muff that has a compressor built in as well in the original Electro Harmonix line. I think they reissued it. It's way more expensive, but I do think it's better than the Pi. However, on a budget the Pi is just fine, especially given your taste.

king_buzzo 04.06.2007 05:07 PM

There's a Russian one on the market. You can ofcourse buy amazing vintage ones with different parts, the reissues have silicon transistors while the 70/80's versions ran op amps, these are better. I think that term Pi came when they made this design

The Pi is just a way of distinguishing that version between the russian one, it doesnt mean that it uses a secret custom mega transistor called Pi. And yes, that is the best 'new' muff around, and for the price youre getting, you should jump around in happiness, get it before its too late.

Well, I got 150 euros around so im gonna buy an original EHX Pulsar and a Russian Big Muff. The original Pulsar is said to have less volume drop than the stereo pulsar. and face it its beautiful

Turbo Rat since you've already got a muff right?

I just went down to Pianos 'N Stuff in Pittsburgh to get a DT-10, came back with a DT-10 and a DOD-250. I also tried an MXR Distortion + but the DOD-250 was 30 bucks and sounded better too.

Nice board. Is the little big muff nice? And also, is that frequency analyzer better than a moog?

The frequency analyzer is cheaper. I like its tone too.

Some people quote the DOD Preamp to be the best boost/preamp ever. Any Samples Spectral?

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.07.2007 05:51 PM

Not yet.

It is really gritty sounding in a nice way. I really like the harmonics it produces. And it doesn't get all icy with fender amps (my blues driver did.)

It sounds a lot like a 12ax7 being overdriven to my ear.

Ordering a Russian Muff and a Stereo Pulsar from the store next, they don't have them in stock I went there today so they have to order it. Except for if they give me a super deal on a Fender Blender

No, I still have it.
I don't have any recent pics, but it's not much different lately.

The Fender Blender's prices have dropped, lucky for you. I still don't think they're that special though.

CHOUT 04.07.2007 10:56 PM

Your board looks nice, spectraljulianisnotdead. I just wrote a song with my FA recently. I still can't decide which I like better, the moog or fa.

From what I have read, the Distortion + and DOD 250 are built very similar, just a couple of minor differences.
