Flying Horseman release party concert for their new album Mothership

Don't like the new songs as much as their previous work, yet.

If I counted right, you posted that Lou Barlow has 27 new solo albums.

You imperialistic Northern Hemisphereners. It's been a lead grey day here! Fall and soon it'll be winter! (Not a methapor. ;))

Anyway, I certainly prefer it to the summer. Who loves the sun? Who cares that it makes plants grow?

Really enjoying this new band 'Bachelor'

Pretty straightforward indie rock but more than enough clever bits to be enjoyable

Nice if it means it'll shift a few more units, but good LAWD am I sick of the term "post-punk" being tagged on anyone who didn't do their shit when post-punk actually happened. I understand FACS' influences clearly reflect that era, but even still, "post-punk" was very diverse anyway. High time to get rid of it as a stylistic label.

What about revival? ;) Speaking of which, Black Midi new LP. Considered post-punk but sounding more like some bastardised pretentious prog-rock funk.

Well, considering that "lead grey" might as well be somewhere in the Austrian national anthem (it'd be more honest and true to the funeral dirge-esque melody), I've really come to appreciate the sun. The sun's alright. It's people that suck.
Gira may make a compelling case , but free serotonin is a good deal in my book.

You could post your Fall leading into Winter picks. Who knows, maybe I'll check some out in 5 months. ;)

People suck all year! As for the sun, what I can't stand is actually the heat, not the light. When I was in Maryland, I discovered this thing called, "It's minus [x] degrees Farenheit out there, but the sun is shining bright". Wot?! Took me a bit to wrap my head around that because here the seasons are very square: summer, hot and dry; winter, rainy, grey and cold (but not Maryland cold - local folks find it freezing when it's minus [x] degrees Celsius); fall and spring, exactly what you'd expect from straight transitions between those two extremes.

Or at least that's how they used to be. Climate change has fucked things up and now there's less and less rain in the winter, and humidity is creeping its way into summers - the only thing worse than the heat is the humidity GOOD GOD I HATE THAT SHIT.

Hmm, I don't really do weather-themed picks. What I can tell you is that one of the few albums I can listen to during a summer day (DAY; at night things broaden up) is Townes Van Zandt's Live At The Old Quarter, Houston, Texas. The small club's AC was busted when that 1973 show (unreleased until '77) was recorded, so the main doors had to be opened from time to time and you can hear trucks passing in the distance (never ever to the detriment of the music, however).

Back to the cold seasons, how about 10,000 Maniacs' "Like The Weather", Robyn Hitchcock's "Winter Love"... The possibilities... Gotta say, though, I don't have a problem with the cold nowadays; I find it invigorating!

This album was released twenty years ago, and five months or so.
Haven't listened to it in ages actually, but they released a 20th anniversary visual album on YT

Will come back to the seasonal listening convo later on.

Only a score of 3.25/5.00 based on a meager 24 ratings on RYM. A pity. Album fucking slaps.

It's actually a pretty great and extensive database if you want to discover music. Plenty of personalized lists that include some great gems, etc. However, in terms of ratings, there is a pronounced bias towards very specific things. Many great albums that hardly get noticed there, ratings-wise. But that's what the lists and descriptors are for. Mixed bag, really, but quite an extensive one that covers a lot of ground. You can really find some awesome stuff there, if you know how to cut thru the bullshit.

But also personalized lists by users that add a more individual touch to the whole schabang, descriptors and such - quite useful, actually, if you are looking for a specific mood for instance. And the database is really extensive. A mixed bag, but a useful one from time to time.
