This album is much better than many thought it was when it was released in....er...1994? It really was a shocking left turn after Automatic. But it stands up. I fucking love it.

Anyway, Slipknot - Iowa.

It's great, but I maintain that Slipknot's most recent album is also their best album.

Exciting debut album by the band that released two of my absolute favorite songs from both 2019 and 2020.

And cover artwork that does it absolutely no justice.

Extraordinary.

I've been looking forward to this for a long time. I find it ultimately anti-climatic: All but two of the tracks collected here are over two years old and the peppering of countless crescendos in every song pertains a try-hard need to be epic. As per the natural order of a cliche ridden crescendo, it's manipulative, a good reason why it's used in cinema so much but especially generic Hollywood gash. I could write a few paragraphs on disappointment but I'm sat here scratching my head, at a loss as to why I was looking forward to this in the first place and probably putting it down to those Windmill gigs.
