Sooo, it's Arsenal away next week. I can easily see us going into September on zero points. I'm just praying this isn't another season about survival rather than progress but I have a horrible feeling it could be. Why couldn't I have been born in Barcelona, or even bloody Bournemouth!

I never watched the Chelsea Arsenal game. I know the result but how was it?

Know the feeling. However, look at it this way, new manager and new squad overhaul needs time. Look at Arsenal. Patience man. And winning all the time would get boring. Imagine being a self entitled Bayern/Real Madrid/Juventus fan where even a draw is a scandal.

Richarlison is looking like a real good buy for Everton. Let's hope he can keep it up.

first half chelsea scores early (pedro) arsenal misses a couple of chances (sad for auba) then immediately chelsea scores again (morata destroys all)

all is lost? no because mkhitarian scores one (whatta shot) and assists another and blam, it’s 2-2, go to halftime.

2nd half contested, hazard and giroud come in for chelsea (what fucking luxury, lmao) and late eventually chelsea scores a third.

there was a lot to look at and hard to summarize except to say: chelsea was better, but arsenal was way better than last week. also ozil booed when subbed out. ouch!

You're right, but what worries me is that teams like WH don't have time in that league. Arsenal can start slowly without seriously fearing relegation but it's always a real possibility for us. The problem is even if/when the players click, the one thing they'll never have is pace and we know that's king right now.

I don't expect Chelsea to win the title but they do look very strong. Alonso's ridiculous. Considering he's a defender he spends more time in his opponents' box than he does his own. Him and Mendy are better strike-options than most teams have in their actual forward-line.

And speaking of deep benches, there's a rumour in the press that Pep might start Jesus instead of Aguero tomorrow. Not because there's any injury or fitness issue or even a tactical change, but because Pep was apparently furious he didn't pass to De Bruyne last week when he was clear on goal. :eek:

I'm starting to think with Pep, he's an incredible league manager but his eccentricities aren't necessarily best suited to the sudden death nature of knockout competitions. (I know that wasn't an issue at Barcelona, but that was Barcelona.) I still say Man City were the best, most complete team I'd seen last season but there's always that possibility, as we saw, that in a single game, they'll break down. It's the difference between a Mercedes and a Ferrari. I can trust a Mercedes but it'll never excite me the way a Ferrari does.

That'd be amazing if that happened. It would be interesting to see how he'd do with international football. Do wonder whether Moyes' style is the right sort for it though. I've no ill feelings towards Moyes at all. However there were times when he seemed to easy to concede a draw or loss to the bigger teams. Especially coming to the end of his time at Everton.

I think he's finished as a club manager but could be ok at a national team. I mean if Martinez can get to a WC semi, god knows what Moyes could achieve.

And got us into the champions league the very next year. Moyes has his faults. Lord knows I had ten years of watching him and getting frustrated as hell at times.

My problem with what Rio is saying there is firstly, the idea that cos Moyes was hands-on and didn't delegate was a fault. You won't get a more hands-on manager than Wenger. That guy oversees, sorry oversaw *sad tear* every single aspect of Arsenal. Be it transfers or whatever and look how much he won? Moyes didn't get that mindset by being an Everton manager. That's just how he managed.

The second point how Moyes was on the backfoot when playing other teams. Yeah, he did that. I'll never forgive him for saying before Everton played Man City back in 2011/12 or something that "It is a bit like going into a gun fight and we are only armed with a knife.". That negativity grated at times. However, this isn't cos he was an Everton manager. I honestly believe that's his mindset.

Is he a good manager? He saved Everton's ass so many times when we had no money and managed to get great performances from very average players. So yes he is a good manager and I'd argue with anyone who says he isn't. Don't forget it was Alex Ferguson who personally pushed for Moyes to follow him at Man Utd.

Would he be the right manager for USA. Not sure.
