In celebration of the recent release of the "Sad, Pointless and utterly Patronizing Rants Vol. 1039"-mixtape, I'mma pipe in this lovely compilation.

Probably their most representative album, certainly the most fun. 'Beeswax' is top 10 Nirvana, easy.

I've also been listening to a bunch of The Cure of late. The good albums are the first four and Disintegration, unless I'm unfairly maligning something.

P.S. Fun choice of number there :D

I'm up to 74 albums for the year by now, including far too much Smashing Pumpkins. Should probably start diving back into stuff I haven't listened to for a while - Bowie, older punk rock, etc.

A two hour performance from earlier this month (1.04.2020) in Chinatown, Los Angeles......the new project of Don Lewis of Small Drone Orchestra: Unknown Unknown - Artzenkraft

Look Ma, I'm not playing the Cure today (yet...)

Eric Thielemans plays drums
Elko Blijweert plays guitar
Rudy Trouvé uses piano

released December 15, 2019

Rudy Trouvé was the first guitarist of dEUS, and is not really a pianist. So at times his parts are a bit too oversymplistic. But for the rest it's pretty good, reminds me a bit of Dirty Three.

Wonderful, majestic band. (By the way, their cover of "Seventeen Seconds" is better than the original).

Assuming Antagon is antagonizing me, how come you people can freely talk the worst possible shit about any musicians, but when I do it it's "sad, pointless and utterly patronizing"? If it's the way in which I write it, it's better than yours - damn right it's better than yours; I can teach you, but I have to charge.

Maybe because we don't have the attitude that we're smarter and more enlightened than everyone else on the forum?

Anyway, I listened to Sister today. Something even you can't be snarky about.

How many Grammys and mainstream awards by the like? Give me crap if you want, but don't crap outside the bowl.

EDIT: Forgot to include The Rolling Stones up to and including Tattoo You - that alone makes my point.

I fucking loathe this meme.

Granted I haven’t actually seen it in some time thank god, but Christ this is annoying.

What irks me is the assumption that I dislike something simply because it’s popular, or, conversely, that my liking a popular thing must be the function of a desire to be interesting.

I’m WAY too old to give a shit about being considered interesting by people I don’t know on a barely used internet fan forum.

Sometimes popular shit just sucks. Sometimes it doesn’t.

I like the Beatles so f’ckoff.

I don't have a problem with you liking the Cowboy Junkies, but telling folks that the ''Curelovefest you guys have going needs to fucking stop'' isn't doing you many favours, is it? And I can't count myself as being a fan of their music either.

The way I see it, there's no problem with people being able to "freely talk" shit about musicians. But being able to freely share your opinions also entails putting yourself out there to be called out on your BS every now and then. It works both ways. Deal with it.

Not actively trying to antagonize (nice projection there by the way) anyone here, just calling out that 'tude.

And that whole "I know better than y'all" shit just reeks.
