Each track on Rhizosphere inhabits its own mini-universe sonically and emotionally. The range of moods traversed is stunning. The only other human being on Rhizosphere is drummer François Auger, who accompanies Pinhas on the title track. The escalating arc of its 18-minute run plays like a moonbound rocket-trip, with pulsing synth and roaming percussion made all the more otherworldly by the decision to filter Auger's cymbals through an AKS modular synthesizer. - Forced Exposure

I lucked into a copy of that about 10 years back. It's a great one. Pinhas in general provides quite a deep and rewarding rabbit hole.

Oh, I can not fuck with that record. It sounds like The Verve playing in the style of Elton John to me.

One time I saw Cat Power and she sucked so much I’m pretty sure she was asked to leave the stage. I can’t remember what the show was exactly, but she was opening for someone — maybe Sleater-Kiney? — and she seemed drunk and just fucked off through like three songs, at least one of which was a cover, and then left after someone popped out to whisper in her ear.

I’d say that was painful. At the time I was very into Cat Power and was pumped to see her live. Didn’t expect her to sound like an actual cat. I was supper pissed at what a waste of time it had been.
