A few days ago I made a Katie "presentation" for my desktop. Looks a bit like this: |
Cian Nugent & The Cosmos - Born With The Caul. Recommended if you like: awesome stuff. Now, likening awesome stuff alone does not make you awesome, but if you do not like awesome stuff you most likely are not awesome. Think about that, fucker! |
How come nobody ever talks about Murray St? Such a relaxing record. I should really frame my Murray St. poster sooner than later. |
I'm at this café again to do some research for a paper I'm writing and Skip Tracer just came on. Nice surprise there.

Great album. I tend to think of it as one of the absolute essentials, and one of the best from start to finish. There are no blemishes on this record. Also, it manages to be jammy, spacey, classy and noisey/punky, sometimes all at once. How many other albums do that? I still don’t really get how the balance was so perfectly struck, but this album is goddamn amazing. |

I've said it a billion times and I'll say it a billion more until everyone agrees: Thurston is one of the truly great melody writers in rock--and ESPECIALLY in this subgenre where melody isn't always a major consideration.
"The Empty Page" is one of his finer works. It's catchy, emotional and you can whistle it in the shower. Can't ask for more. |
