but i'd check out their 70s output get the right impressions though especially the stuff with bill bruford in it cuz DAT GUY! drums! e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_pDwv3tpug this one, i love the loooooong crescendo from a slow depression to an frantic anxious end, seeming resolution, and a final return to the original motif in a great chaos. one of my favorite tracks by them. always have thought of it as a movie soundtrack for a prison break, a desperate fugitive being chased by german shepherds and nazi guards. oh yeah the escape fails... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfR6_V91fG8 this is from an earlier album, besides bruford in drums they had jamie muir, an experimental percussionist who left the band for a monastery https://youtu.be/CVb2tnFN5AA |

And strangely enough, Xasthur is currently a folk group. And quite a good one.

On the Crimson tip, check Larks Tongue In Aspic. Seriously.

Honestly no. Neither angry or sad. It's a big part of why I don't find myself gravitating towards their music much at all these days. |

evol was weird and a bit dark on first listen but not, like, made me consider suicide, lol there’s aggression in it but it’s always kinda playful, mocking same reason i love lightning bolt— it’s intense as fuck but it’s, like—happy, or something. gives me a big fucking grin. |

Confusion is sex is probably my fav. SY album at the moment. That's some gritty shit. (don't tell my BMR tattoo). It's so rough around the edges and dissonant. Don't get me wrong, I do love peaceful music. Boards of Canada, Loveliescrushing, etc. But I gravitate so heavily towards the angry and sad that even my friends point out, "Can't you play anything that's happy?!" I get where you're coming from though. |

OK, now that is REALLY good. I dunno if I've changed since I last heard them (probably) but yeah. Thank you! Quote:
Sister was the last SY album I really got excited about. Their 80s albums pre DDN weren't angry or sad but they were kinda spooky. By the mid-90s they'd become something else altogether. I still bought everything but out of curiosity rather than any real enthusiasm. When I describe myself as a SY fan I'm really nly talking about those albums from CiS to Sister. |

Yeah, I still prefer his Xasthur incarnation but I was surprised how good his Nocturnal Poisononing stuff is. Certainly nothing half-baked about it. (For those who haven't heard any of his folk stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_553GkCfGI) Quote:
Noted. |
New HTRK single?
On it. |

And: ![]() Recent live King Crimson has shown up in high resolution on sites like hdtracks.com. Generally speaking, Fripp doesn't want any Crimson available outside of dgmlive.com, and by any I mean even the artwork. This is the message at the "King Crimson page" of fanart.tv: ![]() |
