Well, I don´t put Hendrix earlier cause I thought it was a kind of self-evident fact. Those four albums are the only ones released in his lifetime. Anyway all four are just dynamite!

Well, I think CCR-Pendulum are all terrific albums! Mardi Gras is poor, although Someday Never Comes, Sail Away, Door To Door & Sweet Hitch-hiker are great songs.

Road to Ruin is not a bad album, but really not in a level of those first three excellent albums.

LifeDistortion 01.17.2016 07:54 PM

I don't disagree, Road To Ruin isn't flawless as those first three albums but with really the exception of one song its still a great enough album that to not count it seems petty. For I Wanna Be Sedated alone the album is a worthy listen.

The Soup Nazi 01.17.2016 08:14 PM

Predictably, this game has degenerated a bit, with some of y'alls posting crap by ENEMIES of ROCK & ROLL. But that's OK, as I still have awesome shit to mention.

Fairport Convention
What We Did On Our Holidays
Unhalfbricking
Liege And Lief
Full House

The four of them released within a year and a half, by the way. Unhalfbelievable.

Another "slide the window if you want" case — all the way to Sign "☮" The Times, although as a whole Around The World In A Day is not as strong as the rest... Gotta give it another spin.

Technically, Cameras In The Sky goes between the last two (not to mention five EPs!), but what the hell, all sheer perfection.

Björk:
Post
Homogenic
Vespertine
Medulla

Have to add these, because I think all those are at least decent albums. Vespertine & Medulla are only true great Björk albums.

Rafael Anton Irisarri – A Fragile Geography (Room40)

"this is full of longing and aching beauty, the music that’s so overwrought with emotion it hurts to listen to but it’s so glorious you can’t help it, his humble drones build to static squalls and I lose my fucking mind."

Severian 01.18.2016 01:25 PM

This album never stops sounding amazing. Almost 5 years later, it still gives me chills from start to finish.

Severian 01.18.2016 09:23 PM

Still with the album listing?

Yes, you can put Top albums also that way. First & Rio Grande are also really great albums, but the albums I most love are Tejas & Deguello, that´s the reason of my list. Maybe Fandango is the weakest one in those six (live side). And seventies Rush rules!

Mortte Jousimo 01.19.2016 12:20 AM

These are must:

the Band:
Music From Big Pink
the Band
Stage Fright
Cahoots

I have sometimes wondered am I the only Band-fan here? Because I think I am the only one who ever do mentions about them. Dylan is a hero to so many here, to me Band has always been much more important. Their second album is in the top20 of my alltime albums!

First of all, I'm not a dedicated fan of Steely Dan; I just think Pretzel Logic is excellent. Second, with the possible exceptions of Janis Ian and ZZ Top, these selections are dismal.

You are NOT. See this thread, you self-absorbed Finnish.
