^ Wow. Never heard this before. Really, really digging it right now. A soul classic.

I'm an Al Green kinda feller (just look at my signature), so: amazing singer + fantastic songs + Willie Mitchell and the whole Hi Records team = essential! I'm not the hugest Beatles fan in the world, but John Lennon called the title track "the best record ever". Gotta count for something, eh. :) |

Ween - Quebec
Ween have always made me feel good with a slight skin crawl. if they make your skin crawl then thats good. because they're mocking yr ass or maybe not. of course if yr hetero and low self a stem. it's the confusion. man, i miss Ween. my daughter loves Pure Guava and the new justin timberlake. im a sick man. The Pod and the Oneness is just too nevermind sickly mono mushrooms |

I can't really listen to The Pod from start to finish anymore. It can be a bit, eeeh... torturous. Haha. I still love GodWeenSatan: The Oneness though. So much of it feels so close to punk and hardcore, yet so goddamn goofily far away. And so Ween was born. I miss them too, and Quebec is glorious. My favorite is Chocolate and Cheese, though... Truth. But you can't really go wrong with anything that band released. I haven't heard that FreeMan album yet. Not even sure if it's Gene or Dean's gig. But I'll get to it. I wouldn't mind a Ween reunion. Nothing fancy, no spectacle... It would just be dope if they suddenly started dropping albums again without warning or fanfare, and acted like 2012 never happened. Maybe even under a slightly different name. I'm serious. I'd buy that shit. |

Goat - Commune
Definitely a worthy follow-up to the first LP. Fucking love it. |

Yeah, it's a winner, most definitely. So is the new EP by Ought, by the way. There's something off putting about some of the vocal choices. It's like they're all post-hardcore, and math-rock nostalgia, except for the vaguely Tragically Hip-like moments in the singer's delivery. I think they're a very promising band all in all, and this Ep has some SY-esque noise jam action. But Commune's one of the better rock albums of the year, for sure. |

Even their mp3 files smell like patchouli and weed. Quote:
The intro is really interesting. Because I embarrassingly knew nothing about this record, at first I didn't know if it was "retro," recorded last week or the real deal. (By :30 some ineffable quality made it clear it was authentic.) Have you heard this slightly different, unplugged version? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Q4jIA577mE Great song, and sad just about every cover of it sucks, except I liked this white girl version by Trixie Whitley. Marc Ribot on guitar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sz2ep-QAzc |
At present, Vladislav Delay - Visa.
Moments ago, Kieran Hebden & Steve Reid - NYC I'm trying to calm myself down with some chill instrumentals. I love the new Delay. |
