I just returned Inland Empire half unwatched.
Mr. Lynch has been my favorite for many many moons, but with this last one he really made me feel as if I was humoring him. I get it. I get what's happening and yet somehow I felt like it was just too much and not enough at the same time. Lynch's brilliancy has always been combining "weird" with "normal". the normals would follow along with the story, while the weird agents created it. I'm not saying normals were always "good" people, they just weren't from another dimension. there were no normals in this movie. everybody was a weird agent. with all the loonies loose on stage, the movie lost it's grounding. I would have lasted if it hadn't been three hours long. after the first hour and a half, I just really didn't have time for it. (I know, I should have started watching it before 9:00. I really should have listened to mother). this message was brought to you by the Society for Backward Masked Midgets |

ha ha ha ha. don't say i didn't warn you. i think the term i used was wankery. but of course everybody has to find out for themselves & make lynch a little bit richer. he's earned that, i suppose. anyway, i watched EL TOPO again & was listening to the commentary track. superb. also, this is not a movie, but i just rented disk 1 of samurai champloo ^^ ha ha ha-- those are bombs fun stuff! im ordering the rest of them soon. |

god I fucking love that show! and yeah, you were right about Inland Empire I'm sorry to say. :( last night I watched Pan's Labyrinth. despite my friend's warning of "have fun reading yr movie" (after which I argued that he's an idiot), I thought it was one of the better films that I've seen in a long time. |
i didn't see the whole thing, but samurai champloo is pretty good.
but cartoon network are too busy shoving ben 10 to show good anime or foster's home for imaginary friends, for that matter. |
I've been watching Blood on [adult swim] lately. it's no samurai champloo (which I'm going to add to netflix), but it's "ok".
cartoon network is shit until about 10:30pm. PS: tonite I'm watching 300. hahahahahaaha |
ahh blood+, good one.
there's an all anime channel here in mexico, some good shows (blood+, full metal alchemist, steel angel kurumi) but everytime i flip the channel to it, they're showing some shitass sports anime like the prince of tennis. |
Paprika.
I loved it. |
ha ha ha ha
preceded by a 3 stooges short. |
Nick Park's stop motion animations are always fun. :)
I've been watching season 1 of Rescue Me. A little too homophobic and stereotyped, if you ask me. Don't know what to think of it just yet. |
'Danny Deckchair'. Wasn't great, wasn't awful. Really only watched it because I like Rhys Ifans.
Think I'm going to watch 'King of Hearts' ('Le Roi de Cœur') next. (When I feel like it.. maybe later.. not at the moment.) |
this unbelievably trashy flick:

i watched 'the big lebowski' last night....again.

Disturbia - Watched it lastnight. Liked it. Had that nice teenage romance that I dig. Plus Sarah roemer is a complete fox.
Watched Shooter yesterday, liked that too. Watched Fargo the other day. Was cool. Watching Invincables today. All Hollywood films, but I like that. |
idiocracy. that movie with luke wilson that aired on HBO.
it had its funny parts but was sorta lame. |

i pretty much watch it every night, it's my "fuck there's nothing on tv and i need tv to sleep, i guess i'll watch the dude again" it's climbing to the top of my favorite movies, i tell you. |
I just watched Stranger Than Paradise again. But I made the mistake of watching with someone who kept saying, "This is boring. Is something going to happen?" over and over again. It really ruined it.
This is the new Criterion edition, which means I'll get to see Permanent Vacation (Jarmusch's first feature) next. I assume there're lots of extras too. Is Eszter Balint still making music? Does anyone know? |
I saw Pollock...it was good...not great....not very good either...but Jennifer Connelly in that 50s black swimsuit....wow, she was gorgeous...i cant find any caps of it on google...such a shame....

stranger than paradise is great, but im afraid permanent vacation was actually boring for me, so much so that i never finished it. maybe you'll like it anyway. |
i'm watching the big lebowski again tonight, i need some laughs before sleeping.
|
I Shot Andy Warhol, last night on Flix.
Spoiler Alert: Andy Warhol gets shot. I almost didn't watch it, but I'm glad I did. I liked it alot. Bettie Serveert playing over the end credits FTW. Oh, and Yo La Tengo! And Wilco! |
I saw the end of Castaway today. I would like to see all of it sometime but I've never had the chance..
|
It's a good film, Danny. One I own on dvd. I'd lend it to you, but it's just the distance thing. That, and I don't lend things.
|
big lebowski.
fell asleep. |

I watched Amelie tonight. I've loved it since I first saw it, but I finally bought it on DVD today so I watched it again with my mother because I knew she'd like it and she needed cheering up. Now she wants to go to Paris..
|
Watched Elizabethtown town lastnight. Cool film. Liked it.
