But still it's a very nice album.

It really is a wonderful album; it's been on my Pono for a while now. :)

Just to clarify: did you buy it because you had listened to it and wanted a physical copy, or previous to this purchase you'd never had it at all? Because if it's the latter... shame on YOU, ¯TUNIC¯! :D

Anyone have thoughts on the new St. Vincent?

The new Beck is kinda blaaargh-meh. That song he did with Kim (“I Won’t Be Long”) might be his last good thing.

evollove 10.17.2017 12:14 PM

Did anyone mention new Breeders?

I ordered it but haven't received it yet on account of living in a galaxy far, far away. Regardless, the following three minutes and ten seconds are the definition of transcendent:

BNNT - Multiverse (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T36MSwngHGI).

In the words of some random YouTube commenter: "Poland is going through a musical renaissance. This album is flawless and has officially blown my brain to smithereens." He's right, the amount of great music coming out of Poland in the last few years is crazy. Another superb record release by Instant Classic.

The new St. Vincent is pretty solid, lots of lovely arrangements and catchy hooks, like usual for St. Vincent. So far the standouts for me are Sugarboy, Los Ageless, and Savior.

Yes, I like it. It is weird and poppy in a dark deliberate and *sharp* way. She’s really carved out a nice space for herself in music; a welcome interruption from the ultra-boringness that is most of what’s out there. She’s weird and seriously talented and, dare I say, inimitable.

Skuj 10.22.2017 07:53 PM

So, is this place too cool for LCD Soundsystem (or vice versa)?

Because American Dream is fucking great, ok?

No... well, maybe. I don’t know. People don’t seem to like LCD here, and I’m less of a fan than I once was, but the new album has some positively revelatory moments. Also has a few kinda boring ones, but mostly I think it’s pretty goddamn good.

I've been following her since Marry Me and it feels weird that she's such a superstar now. Not that there's anything wrong with it :), considering the stunning quality of the music she keeps making.

i saw a new phill niblock album at the record store today! damn thing was 23 bucks so i didn't get it. my record player stopped working anyway. can't find it online though! there is a clip on soundcloud. it's on GOD records.

I last recall seeing, King Black Acid, show up on the, Mothman Prophecies Soundtrack several years ago. Daniel Riddle was on, Mid-Valley Mutations last Friday promoting his new album, Super Beautiful Magic released last month. I’ve listened to this album multiple times the past few days and it’s growing on me.

I quite like the Nadine Shah album Holiday Destination: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UaslZYIBvs

Great effort all around--great vocals and some gloriously catchy textured instrumentation on this one. It's pretty listenable and has enough depth to sustain multiple listens. I think I'll have to revisit some of her earlier work.
