Now you're talkin'. I never hear anyone talk about Mos anymore. I think he's one of the best. Not top shelf, but close. This album was refreshing and really got me back into one of the first hip hop artists to really get me into the genre. I'm sure you're a Black Star fan, louder. Yes? |

How do you feel about the New Danger? And yeah, Black Star is definitely incredible. Whatever happened to Talib anyway? Last I heard was his record with madlib, Liberation. I never thought he was the best, but he had potential and talent. He seems to have vanished from the radar of most hip-hop fans. |

I loved New Danger... I've loved all his albums though. New Danger is so weird and has some strange ideas, but truly rewarding moments. Tru3 Magic was so slept on. Yeah it should just basically be a mixtape but shit was (again) just so weird that I had to love it. Kweli puts out more material than Mos actually. But I don't care for him as much. They make a great team of course. |
Mos has an upcoming project with (surprisingly) Mannie Fresh, titled "OMFGOD".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gg9zdUhip0Q ^those beats sound crazy. New Danger wasn't his best, but an interesting experiment anyway. i enjoyed it. |
wow Mannie Fresh? That's aweosme. That's what I love about Mos... his albums are all so diff. Black Star was so b-boy, then Black was Native Tongues sounding, New Danger was rock-ish, True Magic was a glorified mixtape, etc.
Y'all should check out (if you havent) his album with Urban Thermo Dynamics which predates Black Star but wasnt officially released until later. His Mos-Definite and We Are All Hip Hop collections are great comps of stray tracks too. |

Sonic Youth playlist I made in Spotify and iTunes. Now playing: "Or"
I think it's one of my favorite Sonic Youth songs actually. Wasn't initially, but as I get older I find different songs appeal to me. Earlier in the day: tons of Low. Just tons. I mean, I probably went way overboard, but it was fun as hell. |
phew. it saved the day for me: will listen/check out things posted in the fav albums of the year thread. thank you all, who have posted in IT.
